Job Title: Cargo Superintendent

Description
The Cargo Superintendent will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of a wide range of company cargoes, including general projects and heavy lift cargoes.
The ideal candidate for this role must have the required expertise and meticulous attention to detail to contribute to the safe and successful execution of cargo ship-to-ship lifting operations.
The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of regulations, proficiency and experience in cargo inspection, cargo transfers, cargo fiscalization, risk assessment, terminal safety, and bunker survey reporting.
Job Function
Oversee and coordinate cargo handling operations to ensure they are conducted safely and efficiently in collaboration with port authorities, stevedores, and other stakeholders to manage the entire cargo handling process
Oversee the efficient and safe movement of cargo, cargo transfers and inspection operations through various stages of transportation, from loading at the point of origin to unloading at the destination.
Conduct thorough inspections and surveys of products, goods, and cargo including assessing the condition, quantity, and quality of the cargo to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Monitor, calculate, and certify the properlashing and securing of cargoes on vessels lashing and securing of cargoes on vessels to prevent shifting, damage, or loss during transit
Assess the vessel's suitability for carrying the intended cargo on a specific voyage prior to loading including but not limited to evaluating factors such as vessel stability, weight distribution, and cargocompatibility.
Perform surveys to determine the conditions of vessels and cargos before and after the charter period to prevent any changes or damages that may occur during the lease
Conduct inspections aimed at preventing potential damage or loss and identifying potential risks and recommending preventive measures to help mitigate potential issues during transit
Assess the condition and readiness of vessels prior to chatter or purchase to facilitate informed and ensures that the vessel is suitable for the intended purpose
Assess in the unfortunate event of cargo loss or damage, the extent of the loss and provide detailed reports on the nature and scope of the damage
Develop load rotation plans and cargo handling procedures to optimize space utilization and prevent overloading while maintaining cargo integrity
Provide regular reports and advice to company on the progress of operations, potential challenges, and any adjustments that may be needed or required
Provide comprehensive reports that include a statement of facts, final stowage plan, diagrams of lashing arrangements, and photographic documentation upon completion of cargo operations
Minimum Education, Experience and Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marine transportation or logistics
15 years of necessary and relevant cumulative work experience in cargo handling, inspection and documentation
Basic Offshore Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) and Offshore Medical Certificate will be required
Must possess the ability to manage complex logistics and contribute to the smooth functioning of cargo operations
Must have marine surveying qualification
Must have relevant professional certificates
Must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the marine industry
Must be a member of the marine surveying society
Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
Must be result-oriented and committed to company goals
Must be proficient in the use of applicable software
Must be capable of representing the company with regulatory and government agencies
Champion the enforcement of standards and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
Proficiency in IT, at least essential office software, is compulsory for all positions.
