Job Description
SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for Project Engineer - FSO Unity Decommissioning to join its work force in Nigeria.
The FSO Unity Decommissioning Project Engineer shall be responsible for engineering, technical aspects and interfaces for the decommissioning scope of works during the different stages of the project.
The job holder’s responsibilities and activities shall include:
Pre-Contract Award:
Participate and follow up ongoing studies, definition and clarification of scope of works, definition and documentation of interfaces and requirements.
Carryout internal studies as may be required, draw from lessons learnt from previous similar projects, and issuance of related technical dossier.
Involve in preparation of Call-for-Tender documents, in particular technical exhibits and specifications.
Participate in the tendering and tenders’ evaluation processes, ensuring clarifications and responses to technical qualifications and queries, ensuring that agreements and close-out of points are achieved within acceptable boundaries of COMPANY specifications, rules and regulation.
Participate at preparation and review of Tender Bulletins regarding technical issues, ensuring update of relevant contract documents and any follow up clarifications.
Follow up interface engineering ensuring scope and schedule alignment with other packages and JV FOPS activities.
Maintain contact with COMPANY Specialists in HQ for necessary supports and advice.
Work with the project team to finalize the Contract documents, particularly the technical aspects.
Post-Contract Award:
Coordinate execution of detailed design and construction engineering by Contractors, Subcontractors and vendors (as applicable), providing them necessary supports, ensuring engineering scope is carried out in line with project schedule.
Ensure Contractors and Subcontractors development of comprehensive MDR adequate for the scope and in line with Project Specification and requirements.
Review and ensure all project deliverables issued on the project are compliant with Project and General Specifications, rules and regulation.
Be guided by HSE best practices and requirements for engineering design and work methodology preferences.
Ensure appropriate incorporation of lessons learnt from previous similar projects into the project’s engineering designs, procedures and work methodology.
Promote cost saving and optimal solutions for design and execution methodology preferences.
Preparation of necessary derogation requests and follow up of approval processes.
Assist with estimates for inputs to preparation of project schedules, plan adjustments and cost estimates as may be request.
Assist with technical inputs, clarifications and evaluations towards execution of procurement activities as applicable for the project.
Carefully review potential deviations from specifications and ensure that any deviation or waiver approval is carried out according to procedure.

Provide technical solutions by drawing from knowledge and experiences of project team members, HQ supports and Subject Matter Experts (SME).
Coordinate and participate at review of all Technical Queries (TQs) raised on the project, ensuring review with SME and timely response to same.
Participate actively and regularly at project progress review meetings, both internally and externally meetings with Contractors / Subcontractors.
Collaborate with project team members of other packages to smoothen interfaces and ensure collaborative problem solving.
Participate to the review of change orders, progress reporting, schedule and cost follow-up ensuring project development in line with technical and contractual requirements.
Ensure attention to HSE aspects and monitor action points from project reviews and audits (HAZID, HAZOP, PTR, etc.). Coordinate status reviews and follow up to implement recommendations and close-out of all points.
Identify project risks and participate at risk assessment session and following up for Risk Register update.
Report and highlight areas of concern, problems and issues and work collaboratively to find solution for resolution.
Ensure that lessons learnt form the project execution in all disciplines are consolidated and documented.
Monitor Contractors preparation and issuance of final documentation in line with Project Specification and reviewing to ensure information accuracy.
Input for preparation of Closeout Reports for the project.
Profile
Minimum First Degree or equivalent in any relevant engineering discipline
Minimum 10 to 15 years of project working experience, out of which 5 years minimum shall be in a similar or related project engineering position in Oil and Gas industry.
Good knowledge of international design codes, standards and COMPANY general specifications.
Experience in the management of multiple skilled and diverse teams. Should be team-oriented with good communication, motivational, coordination and delegation skills.
Good computer skills, particularly office Microsoft software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
