Purpose of the Role
To grow the business for Cambridge programmes and qualifications in West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Senegal, Sierra Leone. This list is not exhaustive in terms of territories supported and may be added to, or amended, from time-to-time).
This is primarily in our new and existing schools’ market, working closely with our associates the British Council and Holron Computing Training Centre to ensure new schools are recruited to expand our channel to market and annual examination entry targets are met.
This will be done by ensuring that our customers are well supported and, providing world-class service to our schools, educational organisations, regulatory bodies and the wider community. And, where and when appropriate cooperating with our Cambridge Partnership for Education colleagues in ministry relationships and/or our education reform work.
The School Territory Manager, West Africa will spend 60% of their time growing and developing our school market across the subcontinent of West Africa. This is primarily by growing our schools’ market and the uptake of Cambridge examinations.
The remaining time will be used to support new and existing Cambridge schools in the assigned territory, resources, recommending products and programs that provide an opportunity for schools to improve or enhance their current Cambridge offer.
The School’s Territory Manager and, in conjunction with the Senior Manager, West Africa and the wider Cambridge Senior Leadership team will work closely with key strategic leadership in the region to help build a region-wide engagement strategy.

As the Schools Territory Manager, you will grow the business for Cambridge programmes and qualifications in West Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Cameroon, Cote D'Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. This involves working closely with associates to recruit new schools, expand the market, and meet annual examination entry targets.
You will ensure customers are well supported and provide world-class service to schools, educational organizations, regulatory bodies, and the wider community.
Additionally, you will cooperate with Cambridge Partnership for Education colleagues in ministry relationships and education reform work.
About the Role
You'll be accountable for expanding the market in West Africa, particularly schools, in line with business strategy and corporate protocols. This involves joint business planning, developing short-term actions, and long-term objectives to support new and aspiring Cambridge schools. Additionally, you will be:
Conducting School Approval Visits, representing Cambridge at events, and maintaining relationships with schools and stakeholders on Salesforce are essential tasks. Identifying follow-up actions when necessary is also part of the role.
Ensuring new Cambridge schools understand the Cambridge School Support offer and recommending resources to improve their Cambridge offer is crucial. Building awareness for Cambridge resources through participation in educational events and managing these activities is important. All activities must comply with group processes, including legal, financial, HR, and local policies.
Accurate recording and timely transmission of expenses within the budget are required. Understanding the entire CUPA offer and promoting it is essential.
Collaborating with the Cambridge Regional team to drive resource and product growth in schools is vital. Supporting colleagues on compliance, inspections, registrations, new products, training, marketing, events, and other school-related issues is necessary.
Assisting the Senior Manager, West Africa, and supporting Associates and associate schools is also part of the role.
Additionally, supporting events and exhibitions, including Principals Forums and book fairs, is required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of the education systems in the region and international education, along with knowledge of information, technology, and communication systems. You will also bring:
Familiarity with Cambridge programmes and qualifications, as well as some technical knowledge of school-level academic assessment, is essential. Proficiency in IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and fluency in English, both written and oral, are required.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is necessary, along with proven business development experience in international education.
You should be able to develop ongoing relationships with customers at a senior level, as well as with government officials and other stakeholders. Attention to detail, accuracy, and ensuring quick responses to all correspondence are crucial.
You should be confident in communication and presentation skills, able to work in a matrix-managed environment, and capable of managing senior-level stakeholder relationships, such as with Ministries of Education or key stakeholders like the British Council.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the willingness to travel extensively within Nigeria and the West African region are also important.
