Job Title: Flight Co - Assistant
Location: Abuja
Contract Type: Open-Ended
Contract Work Hours: 208 working hours per month
Main Purpose
Assists the flight coordinator with the multiple tasks required to prepare, monitor, and consolidate the MSF flights, contributing to the efficiency of the flight operation.
It requires systematic inter-action with other interlocutors, such as airport authorities and other humanitarian air operators in the country.
Job Description
Plan, organize and coordinate all administrative and logistics activities concerning the complete handling of an MSF aircraft in the Airport in collaboration with the Flight-coordinator.
Organize communication and operational network between MSF Air Operations / MSF in the Airport and be the representative of MSF with all authorities involved in International Airport in collaboration with the Flight- coordinator.
Organize communication and operational network between MSF Air Operations / MSF and be the representative of MSF with the Civil Aviation Authorities, security bodies, and the technical departments of the Authorities involved in our Air Operations in collaboration with the Flight-coordinator.
Participate actively in meetings with other Air Operators and authorities concerning safety or others and reports to the Flight-Co.
Organizes the dispatch (weather, security, runway condition, payload) of the flights in collaboration with the Flight Coordinator, to ensure smooth running of the flight.
Provide technical and administrative support to the Flight-co in all aspects of the implementation of an MSF aircraft.
Participate actively in the technical organization of the flights.
Be the representative of MSF for the MSF passengers in the International Airport of Abuja about all flights, which transport MSF personal, and cargo.
Write and collaborate in the edition of guidelines for all processes in relation to Air Operations in Nigeria.
Follow and inform about all updates relating to flight operations.
Files all documents and write all reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) related to the flights in the filing systems to maintain an accurate database.
Other tasks and responsibilities as may be delegated by the Flight Coordinator, depending on needs.
Booking of all MSF passengers and cargo in MSF internal booking system.
Prepare flight schedules to different airports in the country in accordance with aviation rules and safety.
Maintains and develops contacts at national level with authorities, airport representative and other humanitarian operators.
Ensures that necessary authorization and flight clearances are obtain in timely manner if aircraft needs to fly back to base for overhaul.
Consolidate and process all aviation invoices to finance for payment (fuel, handling, navigation charges)
Control and filing of all post flight documents.
Ensure that all sites are informed of the progress of the aircraft once its airborne, and when landed.
Coordinates with logistics at different airports to pick up and transport passengers to their locations.
Assist the flight coordinator in arranging meetings with authorities.
Immediately report to FlightCo any details if incidents/accidents occur to MSF staff, crew, or aircraft.
Able to interpret weather, notice to airmen (NOTAMs) and other circulars disseminated by civil aviation for the safe, efficient, and safe operation of the MSF flight.
Provide flight following and flight watch during flight progress using the flight following/watch tools.
Requirements
Education Essential: University Degree with specialization in flight dispatch, flight operations, pilot or air traffic control.
Experience: Airport operations, flight scheduling, customer service, airline operations, data entry and administration.
Languages:
Essential: Fluency in English
Desirable: Knowledge of aviation technical terminologies.

Remuneration
According to MSF salary scale plus 13th month allowance equivalent to 1 month of gross salary.
