Job Title: Heavy Duty Foreman (Equipment Technician Leader)

Job Summary
The Heavy Duty Foreman (Equipment Technician Leader) will oversee a team of skilled equipment technicians, ensuring that all heavy machinery and construction equipment are maintained and repaired to the highest standards.
This role involves managing a diverse group of technicians, scheduling maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing technical leadership in the field.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction equipment, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Supervision:
Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of heavy-duty equipment technicians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Coordinate and schedule daily maintenance activities and repairs to minimize downtime of equipment.
Perform regular performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for technicians.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Oversee the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all heavy-duty construction equipment including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, trucks, and specialized machinery.
Diagnose mechanical issues and ensure appropriate repairs are made promptly.
Maintain records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and repair history.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures in the workshop and on-site, including the proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to local and federal regulations, ensuring compliance with OSHA or other relevant safety standards.
Inventory and Parts Management:
Oversee the ordering and inventory of spare parts and equipment required for maintenance and repair work.
Ensure cost-effective management of parts and supplies, keeping track of inventory levels and managing supplier relationships.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, site managers, and other departments to ensure equipment is available and properly maintained for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Provide regular updates on equipment status and repairs to senior management.
Resolve technical issues efficiently and collaborate with other teams to ensure timely project completion.
Quality Assurance:
Monitor the quality of work performed by technicians to ensure repairs and maintenance meet company standards.
Implement best practices and procedures to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Education Qualification And Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent; a relevant technical certification or trade qualification in heavy-duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in a similar role within the construction or heavy equipment industry.
Extensive knowledge of heavy construction machinery and equipment like, excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, etc.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Strong understanding of equipment maintenance protocols and industry-standard practices.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction like CAT, VOLVO, JCB, KOMASTU, DYNAPAC.
Leadership and Communication:
Proven leadership and team management experience with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Management of small mechanic team members.
