Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Role Purpose
The Advocacy and Campaign Assistant will provide support specifically to the implementation of Education Cannot Wait (ECW) First Emergency response (FER) to be implemented in Katsina, Kaduna and Zamfara states, North West Nigeria.
The Advocacy and Campaign Assistant will be responsible for engaging government stakeholders, developing communication materials, and photography.
S/he will be responsible for production of visibility materials, conduct advocacy and campaigns for Save the Children Nigeria. S/he will be required to travel to other locations to gather videos, photos and content as needed with the support of program team and the ACCM team at the Country Office.
Scope of Role
Reports to: Project Manager
Works closely with: Advocacy, Campaign and Policy Managers for LEARN, Survive and Be-Protected Breakthroughs, Audio visual Officer, Digital Media and Internal Communications specialist and all program staff.
Key Areas of Accountability
Advocacy & Campaign project activities:
Coordinate and provide technical support for the implementation of ACCM strategies in relation to all advocacy and campaign within Save the Children in Katsina and Zamfara states.
In collaboration with Advocacy and Campaign Manager Learn/Be protect to engage relevant stakeholders at the state, local government, school and community levels on the project to ensure we secure their commitment and support to the project.
Support in ensure maximum visibility of Save the Children according to the branding guidelines both internally and externally across relevant platforms.
Support children participation is at the center of advocacy and campaign engagements, and they are an integral part of Save the Children’s campaigning work.
Support in leading Advocacy and community engagements at the state, local government and community levels on Universal Basic Education, develop key messages to support policy reviews, processes and discussions.
Support all advocacy and campaign related engagements in Katsina and Zamfara with support from relevant breakthrough leads.
In collaboration with the project team, work closely with relevant coordination structures within the states to ensure the project goals are achieved.
Others:
Work with ACCM team to assist in producing culturally suitable, and user-friendly communications, publications, IEC, visibility, and multimedia products, including but not limited to videos, photographs, infographics, brochures, flyers, newsletters, posters, fact sheets, backdrop banners for internal and external advocacy and campaign engagements
Support Design of product templates, presentation materials for workshops, webinars, and external relations needs.
Support writing project designs, case studies or reports, with infographics and layout formatting to SCI brand standards.
Perform other duties and tasks as determined by the Line Manager.
Experience, Qualification and Skills
University Degree in Visual Arts, Media and Communication Studies, Public Policy and Mobilization, Graphic Design, Layout, Document Development and Multimedia Production.
Desired number of years prior experience in a similar role – 2 years
Commitment to SCI’s mission values and approach.
Ability to review documents, briefs, interpret information and synthesize information and present it in a creative manner.
Excellent skills in data visualization, animation and experience in infographic designing.
Ability to create using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw and other design software packages.
Proficient photography and video editing skills required using industry standard editing software like Premier Pro, Final Cut and After Effects
Working knowledge of international donor brand and visibility policies and guidelines desired.
Experience working with international development agencies is an asset
Team player, with excellent organizational, training design and delivery, time management, and communication skills in English, both written and oral.
Ability to work in partnership with government, development, media, and humanitarian partners.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully in team environment.
Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work well with people at all levels and in different locations.
Strong initiative and self-motivation required, with a commitment to teamwork and effectiveness within a dynamic integrated project.
Ability and willingness to travel to project locations in Benue and Cross River states.
Fluency in English.
