Job Title: IT Consultant
Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Contract
Main Functions
Provide IT systems support for offshore production operations, ensuring that all IT infrastructure, networks, and tools are reliable and functional.
Monitor and maintain offshore IT systems, including control systems, communication systems, and production software, ensuring they meet operational needs.
Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues, such as network connectivity, software errors, hardware malfunctions, and system outages.
Manage and support databases and software applications used for production monitoring, maintenance scheduling, and data analysis.
Work with operations and technical teams to understand IT system requirements and provide tailored solutions to improve efficiency and production operations.
Ensure cybersecurity measures are in place to protect offshore data and communication networks from potential threats or breaches.
Provide technical training for offshore personnel on the proper use of IT systems, tools, and software.
Coordinate with onshore IT teams to ensure seamless integration of offshore systems with company-wide IT infrastructure and networks.
Maintain IT documentation including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals.
Support and optimize the performance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and other process control systems to enhance production efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate, ITIL).
Offshore safety training (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) may be required for offshore roles.
Experience:
15+years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure management, with a focus on offshore operations or industrial environments.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure management.
Familiarity with offshore control systems, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC).
Proficient in server and database management (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
Expertise in IT support tools (e.g., remote monitoring software, ticketing systems).
Cybersecurity Awareness:
Understanding of cybersecurity practices, including data encryption, firewall management, and network security.
Experience in ensuring compliance with offshore data protection and IT security policies.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
Strong analytical skills to diagnose IT issues quickly and effectively.
Ability to work under pressure to resolve system outages or disruptions in operations.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with operations, technical teams, and management.
Ability to explain technical information to non-technical staff.
Teamwork and Coordination:
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated IT solutions for offshore operations.
Experience in training and guiding offshore personnel on IT system usage.
