Job Summary
The Storekeeper will be responsible for managing inventory, ensuring accurate records, and maintaining the store’s cleanliness and organization.
This role involves receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment, and requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels by regularly performing counts and audits.
Organize and label inventory to make it easily accessible for quick retrieval and efficient usage.
Record and report any inventory discrepancies or issues to management.
Receiving and Inspection:
Receive shipments, verify quantities, inspect quality, and check for damages or defects.
Ensure all items received are recorded correctly, and update inventory records as needed.
Coordinate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies and facilitate returns if necessary.
Storage and Organization:
Arrange materials and products within the store to maintain cleanliness and optimize space.
Implement a systematic arrangement of goods, ensuring easy access for all staff.
Maintain safety standards in the storage area, including the proper handling and storage of hazardous or sensitive materials.
Issuing and Dispatching Materials:
Respond to requests for supplies or products, issuing items in a timely and accurate manner.
Track issued materials and maintain clear records to prevent loss or misplacement.
Prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring all items are packed and labeled correctly.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and organized records of inventory transactions, deliveries, and stock levels.
Prepare regular reports for management on inventory status, usage patterns, and other relevant metrics.
Participate in periodic stock takes, reconciliations, and audits as required by management.
General Store Maintenance:
Keep the storage area clean, organized, and free of clutter.
Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed.
Report any maintenance issues or hazards in the store to management promptly.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a storekeeper, warehouse associate, or in inventory management preferred.
Basic knowledge of inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Physical stamina to handle lifting, moving, and organizing items as needed.
Skills:
Excellent time-management and organizational abilities.
Good communication skills for liaising with team members and suppliers.
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude to handle issues that may arise in the store.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy items up to [specified weight] pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Salary
N80,000 - N90,000 / month.
