Job Description
An On-Air Personality (OP), also known as a Radio Hostor Broadcast Personality, is responsible for entertaining, informing, and engaging an audience during live broadcasts.
The role requires a combination of speaking, creative content creation, and audience interaction across various media platforms (radio, television, or digital platforms).
Responsibilities
Present and Host Shows: Deliver live, pre-recorded, or scripted content for radio, television, or digital media platforms. Shows may cover news, entertainment, interviews, or music.
Engage with Audience: Interact with the audience through social media, live calls, and other forms of communication to foster listener or viewer engagement.
Create and Curate Content: Write scripts, create show segments, and develop ideas for creative content that resonates with the target audience.
Monitor and Operate Broadcasting Equipment: Ensure smooth operation of broadcasting equipment and software during live shows, including adjusting sound levels and technical elements.
Interview Guests: Conduct interviews with celebrities, experts, and other public figures, ensuring the content is informative and entertaining.
Prepare Show Segments: Organize segments, including news, music, sports updates, and community announcements.
Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with trends in media, entertainment, and current events to stay relevant in the ever-changing broadcasting environment.
Collaborate with Other Team Members: Work with producers, technicians, and other staff to ensure the successful execution of shows and events.
Education
Bachelor's Degree (preferred but not always required):
Communications
Journalism
Media Studies
Broadcasting
Public Relations
Additional Training/Certifications (may be beneficial but not mandatory):
Courses in public speaking, voice coaching, radio broadcasting, or media production.
Technical certification in broadcasting equipment or sound engineering.
Experience:
Relevant Experience (preferred):
Previous experience as a radio DJ, TV host, or other on-air roles.
Experience in writing and producing content for broadcast.
Internships or volunteer work at radio stations, TV stations, or podcasting platforms.
Demonstrated Talent:
A portfolio of previous work (audio, video, or written) to showcase on-air experience, style, and versatility.
Experience in Media Industry (additional):
Experience in live broadcasting environments, especially in high-pressure situations.
Experience in hosting interviews, panel discussions, or event coverage.

Remuneration
Salary:
Entry-level: N70,000 - N150,000 per months
