As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of heavy-duty construction equipment including cranes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, trucks, and other machinery.
This role requires technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving, and a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
The successful candidate will ensure that our equipment remains in peak operating condition, minimizing downtime and contributing to the overall success of our construction projects.
Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of heavy-duty equipment and machinery.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system failures and perform repairs efficiently.
Repair or replace defective parts, components, and assemblies to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
Inspection and Diagnostics:
Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to detect mechanical issues, wear, or potential malfunctions.
Use diagnostic tools and methods to identify problems, and document repair actions and solutions.
Test equipment after repairs to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Technical Expertise and Knowledge:
Provide expertise on equipment specifications, operating procedures, and system diagnostics.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices in heavy-duty mechanics.
Work with the maintenance team to continually improve repair processes and practices.
Inventory and Parts Management:
Assist in managing spare parts inventory, ensuring the availability of essential parts and components for repairs.
Order parts and materials as necessary and keep track of used and remaining stock to maintain cost control.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, industry regulations, and safety standards (e.g., OSHA).
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and adhere to safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and machinery.
Conduct safety checks on all equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and other team members to address maintenance needs and schedule repairs.
Communicate effectively with project managers and other departments to ensure equipment readiness for upcoming tasks.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and any relevant findings.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification or apprenticeship program is highly preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance or a similar field.
Experience working with construction machinery such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, and trucks is required.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Strong understanding of construction equipment and systems.
Ability to use diagnostic tools, manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, brands like: CAT, VOLVO, JCB, KOMASTU, DYNAPAC.

Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel, and perform other physical activities related to the repair of heavy equipment.
Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights, as required by the equipment being repaired.
