Job Title: Lead Civil / Structural Engineer

Job Summary
The role requires technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of the project in compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and budget constraints
Main Responsibilities
Design and Analysis:
Lead the design and analysis of civil and structural elements, including foundations, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and earthworks.
Develop and review structural models, calculations, and design drawings for structural systems.
Design site grading, drainage systems, retaining walls, pavements, and other civil infrastructure components.
Ensure that designs meet applicable codes, industry standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, Eurocodes, etc.), and project-specific requirements.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, etc.) to integrate structural designs into the overall project.
Project Planning and Coordination:
Prepare and manage the civil/structural engineering work schedule, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline.
Coordinate with the project management and procurement teams to develop and monitor the project budget and scope for civil/structural works.
Participate in project planning sessions and deliver regular updates on progress, risks, and key milestones.
Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure construction activities align with design specifications and timelines.
Site Investigations and Surveys:
Conduct or supervise site investigations, including soil testing and environmental assessments, to support the design of foundations, earthworks, and other civil structures.
Interpret site data to inform design decisions, ensuring that all civil/structural designs are appropriate for the site conditions.
Construction Support and Supervision:
Provide technical support during construction, reviewing shop drawings, and addressing site queries related to civil/structural works.
Review and approve construction materials, methods, and procedures to ensure they comply with the project’s technical requirements.
Inspect construction work to ensure quality standards are maintained, verifying that the works are being carried out in accordance with design and safety standards.
Monitor progress on-site and provide solutions for any construction-related issues or design changes that arise during implementation.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all civil/structural designs and construction practices adhere to local, national, and international codes and regulations.
Conduct and participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and design verification to minimize safety hazards on-site.
Maintain a focus on sustainability, ensuring that designs consider environmental impact, energy efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance and Documentation:
Ensure all engineering work is thoroughly documented, including design calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
Manage the preparation and approval of design documentation, including construction drawings, material specifications, and as-built drawings.
Ensure all work complies with the company’s quality management system and project-specific requirements.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all civil/structural engineering matters, collaborating with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical project stakeholders.
Report regularly to senior management and project teams on civil/structural engineering progress, issues, and potential risks.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with at least 10 years in a lead or senior role on EPCM projects.
Proven experience in the design and analysis of concrete, steel, and composite structures.
Strong experience with foundation design, drainage systems, site development, and infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, etc.) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
Experience in managing construction phases and interacting with contractors and vendors.
Skills:
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent project management, leadership, and communication abilities.
Knowledge of relevant civil/structural engineering codes, standards, and best practices.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities effectively.
