Job Title: Lead Pipeline Engineer
Location: Lagos or Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary
The Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of pipeline construction activities on an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) project.
Main Responsibilities
Pipeline Design & Engineering:
Lead the design and engineering of pipelines, including route selection, alignment, and specifications for materials, valves, and accessories.
Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and designs in compliance with local and international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM, ISO).
Perform stress analysis, pipe sizing, and hydraulic modeling for pipeline systems.
Ensure proper integration of pipeline designs with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering).
Project Management:
Oversee the pipeline installation process, ensuring adherence to the approved design and schedule.
Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource allocations.
Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
Monitor progress, resolve issues, and report project status to stakeholders and senior management.
Procurement & Contract Management:
Support the procurement team by reviewing and specifying pipeline materials, equipment, and services.
Assist in preparing technical specifications for the procurement of pipeline materials.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Evaluate contractor proposals and assist in the selection of subcontractors for pipeline construction activities.
Construction & Installation Support:
Provide on-site support during pipeline construction and installation, ensuring that work is carried out according to the approved engineering design.
Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and recommend appropriate solutions.
Review and approve as-built documentation, construction drawings, and field changes.
Ensure that the construction team adheres to safety and environmental standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Conduct inspections and quality control checks during pipeline construction and installation.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry codes, and project specifications.
Participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies and risk assessments to ensure pipeline safety and integrity.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and safety engineers.
Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and communicate progress, issues, and changes.
Provide regular technical reports and updates on project milestones, progress, and challenges.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Pipeline Engineering (or a related field).
Minimum of 15 - 20 years of experience in pipeline engineering, specifically within EPCM projects.
Strong knowledge of pipeline design, construction techniques, and materials.
Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, or similar pipeline design tools.
In-depth understanding of local and international pipeline codes and standards.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments with competing deadlines.
