Job Title: Senior Operations Manager
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Role Overview
The Senior Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations across multiple functional areas within the Dredging, Mining, Construction and Manufacturing divisions for one of our reputable clients.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of projects and operations, optimizing resources, and driving performance improvements.
You will collaborate with senior leadership, engineering teams, and operational staff to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Planning: Developing and implementing plans to improve efficiency and achieve organizational goals
Project Management: Planning, coordinating, and executing technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Budgeting: Managing budgets to ensure financial resources are used effectively
Process Optimization: Streamlining processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs
Strategy Development: Creating strategies to improve overall performance and achievelong-termgoals
Strategic Planning: Developing and applying firmware, software, and hardware solutions to meet the technical requirements of the organization.
Technical Oversight: Managing the day-to-day activities of the technical team, ensuring that all technical systems and processes run smoothly.
Team Leadership: Providing guidance and support to technical staff, setting objectives, and implementing action plans to achieve targets.
Resource Management: Ensuring the provision of necessary technical equipment and materials and managing budgets for technical operations.
Quality Assurance: Maintaining high standards for technical outputs and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Problem Solving: Troubleshooting urgent technical issues and developing solutions to prevent future problems
Continuous Improvement: Conducting cost-benefit analyses to determine operational alternatives and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency.
Hiring and Training: Recruiting, hiring, and training employees to build a competent workforce.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical-related degree (Master’s degree preferred).
At least 10 years of experience in operations management, with a strong background in manufacturing, dredging, and/or oil servicing industries.
Strong technical background with a deep understanding of operational processes, engineering principles, and system optimization.
Proven experience in managing large-scale operations, with a track record of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
Experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to analyze complex operational data and develop actionable insights.
Proficiency with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget management and cost control.
