The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan was strategically located in Ibadan, the then-largest city in West Africa which is also the seat of the first University in Nigeria. The physical development of the Hospital commenced in 1953 in its present site and was formally commissioned after completion on 20 November 1957. The University College Hospital, Ibadan was initially commissioned with 500-bed spaces.
Currently, the hospital has a total of 1445 bed spaces: 1072 Beds at the Main Hospital, 100 Beds at Otunba Tunwase National Paediatrics Centre, 60 Beds at Okuku Comprehensive Healthcare Centre, 50 Beds at Sepeteri Comprehensive Healthcare Centreand 163 Examination Couches.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Nigerians for full-time Residency Training Programme in the University College Hospital, Ibadan leading to Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or the Fellowship of West African College of Surgeons/Physicians.
Requirements
Prospective candidates are expected to:
Be qualified Medical Practitioners (MBBS/BDS)
(MDCN) be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
Have passed the primary examination of any of the Postgraduate Colleges in his/her specialty.
Have satisfactorily completed the NYSC programme or be duly m exempted from it by NYSC Directorate.
Conditions of Service
These are similar to those obtained in the Federal Public Service.
In addition, pension arrangements will be made in accordance with the provisions of the Pension Reform Act 2014.

Note
Candidates applying for training in the Department of Laboratory Medicine would be required to rotate through the Departments of Pathology, Haematology, Medical Microbiology and Chemical Pathology and such candidates could only decide on an area of specialization at the end of at least the first year of rotation subject to satisfactory appraisal by the Head of the respective Departments.
Successful candidates will be expected to commence Residency Training in accordance with the laid down rules.
Establishment of private clinics and engagement in private medical practice constitute a violation of the terms of training and any Resident found culpable of these will be asked to withdraw from the Training Programme.
