We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist / Data Engineer (Mid-Level) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, as well as leveraging data science techniques to drive insights.
As a key member of our team, you'll work remotely from Nigeria while contributing to data-driven solutions for a globally recognized Dutch company.
Responsibilities
Data Pipeline & ETL Development: Build and optimize data pipelines, manage ETL processes, and design data storage solutions, ensuring efficient and secure data flow between systems.
Data Preprocessing & Cleaning: Handle large datasets by cleaning, transforming, and preprocessing them to ensure high-quality, usable data for analysis.
Model Development & Analytics: Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models to drive predictive analytics, using tools like TensorFlow or Scikit-Learn to improve business outcomes.
Collaboration & Insights: Work closely with cross-functional teams to turn data into actionable business insights, and present findings using data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
Documentation & Data Governance: Maintain clear and detailed data documentation, uphold data integrity standards, and ensure compliance with GDPR and other data governance best practices.
Big Data Tools: Utilize big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka to process and manage large-scale datasets efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: A Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with substantial experience in data engineering roles is also acceptable.
Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in data science or data engineering, with proven expertise in ETL processes, big data technologies, and data warehousing.
Certifications:
Highly Preferred: Google Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, Cloudera Certified Data Engineer, or AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty.
Technical Skills:
Programming: Proficiency in Python and SQL. Knowledge of R is a plus for statistical tasks.
Big Data & Engineering Tools: Experience with Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. Familiarity with data pipeline tools like Apache Airflow or Talend is beneficial.
Data Visualization: Strong skills in Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio for creating visual reports and dashboards.
Machine Learning: Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow or Scikit-Learn for model development.
Compliance: A solid understanding of GDPR, secure data handling, and data anonymization techniques.
