Job Title: Child Protection Officer - ROOSC

Job Purpose
The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for implementing and overseeing child protection initiatives within an education project.
This role involves working closely with project staff, community members, and other stakeholders to ensure that children are protected from abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence.
The Child Protection Officer will develop and deliver training, provide technical support, and ensure that child protection principles are integrated into all project activities.
The Officer is responsible for ensuring that quality case management and psychosocial support services are provided to out-of-school children.
The Child Protection Officer will be expected to support on sectoral assessment, project planning and coordination. In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or build capacity of implementing partners on the field.
Responsibilities
Program Implementation:
Develop and implement child protection strategies and activities within the education project.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential child protection issues and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure child protection standards are maintained in all project activities.
Training and Capacity Building:
Design and deliver training sessions for project staff, teachers, community members, and other stakeholders on child protection issues.
Build the capacity of staff and partners to recognize, respond to, and report child protection concerns.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation plans to track the effectiveness of child protection activities.
Collect, analyze, and report on data related to child protection incidents and program outcomes.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of child protection activities.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Work closely with education project staff to integrate child protection into all project components.
Liaise with local authorities, child protection agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate child protection efforts.
Represent the project in relevant child protection forums and networks.
Advocacy and Awareness-Raising:
Raise awareness about child protection issues within the community and among project beneficiaries.
Advocate for the rights of children and the importance of education in protecting children from harm.
Provide essential psychosocial first aid support to children and adults when needed.
Ensure partner staff are supervised regularly to ensure activities are carried out in line with minimum standard guidelines.
Consistently maintain referral pathway of project locations
Case Management:
Establish and manage case management systems for children at risk.
Provide direct support to children and families, including referrals to appropriate services.
Ensure confidentiality and data protection in all case management activities.
Responsible for technical supervision and training of all case workers working with children with protection concerns
Daily supervision of the Child protection case workers.
Ensure that case workers are trained on case management and use of the IA CPIMS forms.
Ensure the quality of the registration forms.
Make referrals of the registered children to the Ministry of women and social development.
Ensure that children are followed up and receiving proper case management.
Ensure that cases are prepared for case discussions/ case management meetings
Ensure partner staff are well supported to implement the entire project.
In collaboration with the CP manager conduct trainings for the partner staff, the ministry staff and other stake holders.
Ensure that all activities under his/her supervision are conducted so as to comply with the obligations of the SC beneficiaries, staff and other stakeholders under his/her jurisdiction, in accordance system of quality supervision, including the CPiE minimum standard and SPHERE standards
Capacity Building:
Provide capacity to implementing partners, government social workers and caseworkers
General:
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Other ad hoc tasks as requested by Line Manager.
Requirements
University degree or equivalent in Social work, Social Science, development studies or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
Between three and four years of work experience in Protection work, supervision, community mobilisation and distributions and solid understanding of the actual Nigeria Emergency context.
Proven ability to supervise a CP project with holistic approach and integrated to child protection right
Speaking fluent English, and other languages of Northern Nigeria is an advantage
Computer literate
