Job Description
The General Manager, of Operations will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company's energy generation and distribution assets and systems.
This role will focus on aligning operational goals with the overall business strategy to ensure efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy delivery.
The GM will lead the operations team in driving innovation, optimizing processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and meeting key performance targets.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of strategic vision, operational expertise, and leadership skills, enabling him/her to steer the organization toward long-term growth and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies for asset management that align with the company's long-term vision, ensuring sustainable growth and operational efficiency. Provide leadership across all technical operational functions, including power generation, distribution, maintenance, etc
Collaboration with Senior Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to provide input on corporate strategy, business planning, and organizational direction. Ensure that operational goals are in line with overall business objectives and contribute to company-wide initiatives such as innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability.
Reporting to the CEO and Board: Regularly present operational performance reports, key insights, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and the board of directors. Identify key challenges, risks, and opportunities within the operations, ensuring proactive management and decisionmaking.
Operational Performance: Oversee the company’s operational activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Continuously optimize processes, reduce costs, and develop and improve performance metrics to meet or exceed business targets.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire the operations team, building a highperformance culture. Develop leadership capabilities within the operations organization to ensure a strong talent pipeline for the future.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with energy regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Develop and implement risk management strategies to address operational, safety, and environmental risks, reporting directly to the CEO on any critical issues.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments such as commercial and finance to align operational needs with broader corporate goals, ensuring seamless coordination across functions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key representative for the company’s operations in discussionswith regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other external stakeholders. Provide operational leadership in public and private forums.
Capital Planning & Budgeting: Oversee the planning and execution of the operations budget, capital expenditure projects, and resource allocation. Ensure the efficient use of resources while delivering on both immediate and long-term operational goals.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, adopting new technologies, and exploring innovative solutions that improve service delivery and energy efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
A master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Strategic Management would be an advantage.
Minimum 10 years experience in the energy (power/utilities) sector, with at least 5 years in a senior operational leadership role.
