Under the overall supervision of the project manager/HSO and direct supervision of the Migration Health officer and Migration Health Assistant (Data & Reporting), in coordination with the Health facility In charge (Head) coordinator in the LGA the incumbent will support the overall health activities, service delivery, development and coordination of all IOM BHA project.
He/she shall coordinate planned health outreaches, coordinate training planning/logistics, collate patient/hospital data/records.
He/she shall provide leadership and guidance in establishing the highest standards of care and ensuring optimal delivery of quality care in line with international best practices. He/she will undertake the below tasks as mentioned in the TOR.
Role objectives
Responsible for clinical consultation during ANC clinic once weekly
Providing gynaecological and reproductive health consultations for the survivors as required
Responsible for the provision of mentoring to nurses and midwives
Support with ANC services and other related SRHR services
Perform specialized obs and gynae Ultrasound Scan as required
Responsible for proper documentation and survivors/patients’ records
Provide health education and counselling including family (FP)
Advice patients on any alternative treatment they might be seeking
Keeping abreast of the latest medical information through continuous medical education, formal education and personal professional development
Facilitate and make clinical & non-clinical documentations and presentations of all admitted cases
Document, summarize and share monthly report of his activities to his/her supervisor
Participate in design and formulation of unit policies, SOPs and clinical pathways
Performing other applicable tasks and duties as assigned by the PMO, Supervisor, Medical Officer/National Migration Health Officer
Abiding by the hospital rules, protocols and standard practices
High interpersonal and communication skills demand will need to be able to fit easily into a complex and highly operative team of various cultural backgrounds
The incumbent will directly report to the Migration Health Assistant (Data & Reporting), and IOM National Project Officer.
Project reporting:
Under the overall supervision of the project manager/HSO in Yola and direct supervision of the Migration Health officer in Abuja.
Key competencies
University degree MBBS with Fellowship with either colleges of WACS or NPMCN with a minimum of three years relevant clinical experience
A valid license to practice in Nigeria
Excellent technical skills with at least Minimum of three years of continuous practice postâfellowship, registered to practice in Nigeria and with a valid registration license in hospital or health setting
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, international organizations and private sector entities
Previous work experience with UN, International organizations and companies would be an advantage preferably within the United Nations or within the international humanitarian sector
Training and experience in ANC, CMR, SRHR, including SGBV, first-aid and emergency health is an advantage
Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access
Good knowledge of clinical care especially in the Primary or secondary Health Care settings
Good communication skills and proven ability in working in a team
Counselling, health promotion, public health or migration health skills/experience is a plus
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to maintain detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Fluency in English (oral and written) and Hausa is required
