Job Title: Financial Reporting Specialist

Location: Ilupeju, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

• The Financial Reporting Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with local and international accounting standards.
• This role involves preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting decision-making by providing detailed financial insights.
• The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in financial reporting, thorough knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, and experience with ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and GAAP.
• Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, including supporting documentation and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and financial reporting standards.

Consolidation and Intercompany Transactions:

• Perform financial statement consolidation for multiple entities, handling inter-company eliminations, foreign currency translations, and adjustments as necessary.
• Manage inter-company transactions, ensuring proper treatment and alignment with company policies.

Financial Analysis and Variance Reporting:

• Conduct variance analysis on financial results, explaining key deviations from the budget and prior periods.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing insights into financial performance.

Audit and Compliance Support:

• Coordinate with external auditors, preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Ensure timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries and implement audit recommendations.

Data Management & Reporting Automation:

• Leverage ERP systems and data visualization tools to streamline reporting processes and automate recurring reports.

Policy and Procedure Development:

• Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve reporting processes and compliance controls.

Finance Business Partnership:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data accuracy and provide guidance on financial transactions.
• Present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACA, ACCA, or relevant certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting, with a solid understanding of IFRS and GAAP standards.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (such as Sage, Odoo, QB, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in financial analysis and variance reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong commitment to compliance and data integrity.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience with financial audits and working with external auditors is an advantage.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in technology or fast-paced industries.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
