Job Title: Gardener

Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Part-time

Responsibilities

• Planting seeds, bulbs, trees, and shrubs and nurturing them from germination through full growth.
• Preparing soil for planting, adding compost or fertilizers, and ensuring soil remains nutrient-rich and well-drained.
• Regularly watering plants manually or managing automated irrigation systems to ensure plants receive the right amount of water.
• Removing weeds to prevent competition for nutrients and applying mulch to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
• Keeping plants, shrubs, and lawns trimmed and tidy by regularly pruning and mowing.
• Preparing the garden for each season by planting annuals, mulching, or protecting plants from frost or excessive heat.
• Monitoring plants for signs of disease or pests and applying treatments or eco-friendly solutions as needed.
• Cleaning garden areas and maintaining paths, furniture, fountains, or any other garden features.
• Managing garden waste by composting or recycling where appropriate.
• Suggesting or implementing garden improvements, such as adding new plant beds, garden ornaments, or other aesthetic features.

• Basic design skills to plan garden layouts, including knowledge of aesthetics and arrangement.
• Knowing how and when to prune plants, shrubs, and trees to promote healthy growth and maintain the garden's appearance.
• Familiarity with gardening tools and ability to keep them in good working condition.
• Understanding proper watering techniques and managing irrigation systems to keep plants hydrated.
