The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for overseeing the technological direction of the company. This role involves managing the development and implementation of technology strategies that align with the organization’s business goals.
The CTO ensures the efficient operation of the IT infrastructure, drives technological innovation, and leads the technology team in developing cutting-edge solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Platform Architecture and Development:
Design and oversee the development of the app’s technical architecture to handle complex datasets (like genomic sequences) and enable efficient searching and mapping of family trees, cultural data, and health insights.
Data Security:
Ensure the security of sensitive genetic data, using encryption and privacy safeguards that comply with industry standards.
Scalability:
Ensure the platform is scalable to accommodate future growth, including the integration of new genomic data and features.
Collaboration with Science Team:
Work closely with the science co-founder to integrate complex genetic data into a user-friendly interface.
Development of DNA Health Tools:
Lead the technical development of tools that provide personalized health insights, ensuring the backend systems can efficiently process genetic data for simple user interpretation.
Integration of Multimedia Tools:
Implement multimedia systems (notes, voice notes, images) that allow users to preserve and categorize cultural heritage, ensuring these are seamlessly incorporated into the family tree-building tools.
Technology Roadmap:
Develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with the product vision, ensuring ongoing innovation and iteration.
AI/ML Integration:
Implement AI-driven features for health diagnostics and ancestry tracking, leveraging genetic and cultural data to provide personalized insights.
Team Leadership:
Build and manage the technical team, ensuring alignment with company’s mission and scalability needs.
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum of Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum of 3 - 8 years relevant industry work experience.
Experience:
Proficiency in software engineering, with a strong focus on handling large datasets (e.g., genetic sequences).
Expertise in building scalable platforms, particularly in the health-tech or genomic space.
Strong knowledge of data security protocols and privacy regulations.
Skills:
Ability to organize work schedules on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Experience working with AI/ML algorithms to process and interpret genomic data.
Leadership skills to drive tech innovation and ensure seamless integration between tech and science teams.
