Job Summary
The CEO shall be responsible for giving strategic guidance and direction to the board to ensure that the Company achieves its financial vision, mission, and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
The Managing Director/CEO shall:
Be fully responsible for managing and coordinating the entire business of the Bank. He/she shall be accountable to and report directly to the Board of Directors of the Bank and be answerable to them.
Drive the institution's Vision and Mission, provide strategic direction for the Bank's business, and endeavour to meet and surpass performance targets set from time to time.
Develop and present to the Board the Bank's strategic business plan, including preparing the Bank's annual budget, monitoring performance, and driving overall business performance.
Provide regular reports on the Bank's overall performance to the Board of Directors, presenting actuals against budget (either monthly, quarterly, or on an ad hoc basis as required).
Effectively manage relationships with the Bank’s customers, communities in the Bank's operational environment, staff members, Regulatory Authorities, and other stakeholders.
Provide leadership and motivation to all Bank staff, being responsible for developing the Bank's human capital and encouraging continuous learning.
Promote teamwork, dedication, and commitment among all Bank staff.
Develop detailed job descriptions, specific job targets, and performance standards for each Bank staff member.
Undertake regular performance appraisals/evaluations of staff and present a comprehensive report to the Board at least bi-annually.
Enforce discipline and ensure strict adherence and compliance by all Bank staff to the institution's values, policies, and procedures.
Maintain high moral and professional standards in all duties.
Ensure accurate and timely/prompt rendition of all required statutory reports, including regular Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) returns.
As the Chief Accounting Officer, liaise and cooperate with the Bank’s external Auditors, CBN/NDIC Examiners, and other external bodies, promptly responding to their audit queries and effectively managing these relationships.
Ensure proper maintenance and custody of records and documentation of all transactions of the Bank, including prudent and efficient management of resources, effective control, and custodianship of all assets, properties, and interests.
Undertake other tasks or assignments as directed by the Board of Directors.
Any other duties or responsibilities typical of the Chief Executive of a financial institution not specifically outlined in this document.
Requirements
The candidate for the Managing Director of the Microfinance Bank to be appointed will be a competent, seasoned, and experienced banker with requisite qualifications and certification and must satisfy the following conditions:
A degree in Social Sciences or any other related field. Professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Must have undergone the Microfinance Certification Programme and obtained a Certificate in Microfinance Banking issued by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Minimum of eight (8) years post-qualification experience, out of which at least five (5) must be in the financial services industry, and at least three (3) at the senior management level.
His/her special skill and abilities should include being a goal-getter, target-driven, hardworking, and dedicated to duty.
Must be sufficiently computer literate and a great team motivator and player.
