The Finance & Grants Officer is a member of the finance team. She/he will assist the Finance and Grant Specialist with financial, accounting, and budgeting support.
She/he will maintain accurate financial, accounting, and payroll records in compliance with Nuru Nigeria Finance Policy and Manual, and assist with financial reporting, bank reconciliations, or other related duties.
Key Responsibilities
Support in the preparation/development of Nuru Nigeria & monthly financial reports, with guides from the Finance & Grants Specialist
Ensure timely posting of transactions in Odoo, and journal entries preparation.
Monitor and manage staff advance accounts, and account payables to ensure timely retirements and remittances of all taxes.
Support in budgeting and budgeting processes.
Ensure monthly posting of prepayments.
Support in budget development for Nuru Nigeria and other grants.
Ensure the appropriate use of WBS and applicable grants.
Raising payment vouchers and petty cash journals and ensuring expenses are by
Nuru Nigeria policies and procedures manual.
Ensure that all project-related transactions are charged (posted) using the appropriate WBS with the respective GL-Code or Nuru Nigeria Charts of Accounts.
Timely preparation and processing of payments by ensuring that all payments are reasonable, allowable, and allocable to the project.
Ensure that all withholding taxes are remitted on time.
Ensure accurate filing and managing of all vouchers and scanning same to the e- folder (G-Drive)
Ensure timely submissions of documents to the Managing Director for approval by every Wednesday of the week.
Ensure that internal controls put in place are complied with to ensure compliance and are tightened to mitigate risks.
Ensure petty cash is properly managed and recorded in the accounting software to ensure accuracy by the Finance Intern
Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor and Head of Finance.
Job requirement & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other related field
Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum of Three (3)years demonstrated experiencewith reputed organisations, preferably with INGOs, donor agencies or international organisations, is required.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity and ethical standards.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
