Job Description
We are seeking a skilled DC Operations Analyst (Level 2) for the SAM HAM team. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and support data center operations, including server and hardware asset management (SAM) and hardware asset management (HAM).
The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance in data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations and Asset Management:
Oversee and manage data center operations for servers and hardware, focusing on optimal performance and efficiency.
Handle asset management tasks, including tracking, maintaining, and updating hardware assets in the data center.
Implement and manage policies for asset lifecycle, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitor data center infrastructure, including servers, hardware, and network components, to identify and address issues proactively.
Conduct regular system checks, performance tuning, and capacity planning to maintain operational efficiency.
Respond to system alerts and incidents, performing root cause analysis and ensuring timely resolution.
Incident and Problem Management:
Provide Level 2 support for data center operations, troubleshooting issues and collaborating with Level 1 support and other teams for resolution.
Document incidents, solutions, and troubleshooting procedures in the ITSM system for future reference.
Escalate complex technical issues to Level 3 or vendor support as needed, and follow up to ensure a timely resolution.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure that all data center assets and processes comply with regulatory and organizational standards.
Maintain detailed documentation for data center assets, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Conduct regular audits of hardware and software assets to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with asset management policies.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with IT, facilities, and security teams to coordinate and manage data center changes, maintenance, and improvements.
Act as a liaison with vendors and contractors for data center equipment maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.
Provide support and training to junior team members on data center protocols, best practices, and asset management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in data center operations, asset management, or a related field.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of data center hardware, asset management principles, and IT infrastructure. Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in data center management, server administration, and asset lifecycle management.
Familiarity with asset tracking software and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Basic networking knowledge and ability to troubleshoot hardware issues.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills, able to maintain accurate records of data center assets and changes.
Good communication skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
