Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Center Operations Analyst (Level 2) to join our Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCPDR) team.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the continuous availability, integrity, and performance of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, tools, databases, and network components.
The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to support disaster recovery (DR) plans and business continuity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management and Monitoring:
Manage and maintain data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, databases, and networking equipment, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Proactively monitor infrastructure components, identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures to minimize downtime.
Conduct regular health checks and capacity planning for servers, storage systems, and networks, ensuring scalability and performance.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Support:
Assist in developing and executing disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) plans for critical systems and infrastructure.
Perform regular DR drills and testing to validate the effectiveness of recovery processes and ensure compliance with company standards.
Document and report on DR/BC activities, providing insights into areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
Incident and Problem Management:
Provide Level 2 support for incidents involving data center infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to servers, storage, databases, and networks.
Coordinate with Level 1 support teams and escalate complex issues to Level 3 or vendor support as necessary, ensuring timely resolution.
Maintain accurate incident records in the ITSM system, documenting resolutions and lessons learned.
Change and Configuration Management:
Support configuration management by maintaining up-to-date records of all servers, storage devices, network components, and related tools.
Collaborate with the IT team on change management processes, ensuring that all modifications to data center infrastructure comply with policies and are documented.
Assist with the deployment of upgrades, patches, and configurations for infrastructure components, minimizing disruption to operations.
Data Backup and Storage Management:
Oversee and manage data backup procedures, ensuring that critical data is securely stored and easily recoverable.
Manage storage systems, including provisioning, optimization, and troubleshooting to maintain data accessibility and efficiency.
Work with backup tools and solutions to ensure reliable data protection and quick recovery during incidents.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with IT, security, and facilities teams to support data center operations and business continuity initiatives.
Act as a liaison with vendors for hardware and software support, maintenance, and repairs.
Provide training and guidance to junior team members on BCPDR best practices and infrastructure management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in data center operations, disaster recovery, business continuity, or a related field.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in managing servers, storage, databases, network infrastructure, and data backup tools.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of server and storage management, including backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures.
Familiarity with database management and network infrastructure.
Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and monitoring tools for proactive infrastructure management.
