Job Title: Humanitarian Action Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Humanitarian Manager to join our team.
The Humanitarian Manager will lead and coordinate humanitarian projects focused on providing timely and effective assistance to affected populations in crisis situations.
The role involves strategic planning, program development, and operational management to ensure the delivery of high-quality services in alignment with organizational values and humanitarian principles.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, extensive field experience, and a commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Management:
Design, implement, and manage humanitarian response programs in coordination with teams and partner organizations.
Evaluate program effectiveness through monitoring and analysis of outcomes and impact.
Prepare and manage budgets for humanitarian programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to guidelines.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Act as the primary liaison between the organization, local government, and other humanitarian stakeholders.
Facilitate coordination meetings with humanitarian partners to foster collaboration and information sharing.

Staff Leadership and Development:
Hire, train, and mentor staff and volunteers, ensuring they adhere to best practices, humanitarian values, and organizational policies.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth.
Emergency Response:
Lead rapid assessments in crisis situations to identify immediate needs and operational gaps.
Develop emergency response plans and ensure timely implementation in coordination with relevant actors.
Oversee logistics and procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of aid.
Advocacy and Representation:
Represent the organization at local, national, and international forums to advocate for the rights and needs of affected populations.
Prepare reports and documentation for stakeholders, donors, and regulatory bodies.
Stay informed about regional humanitarian trends and challenges to inform organizational strategies.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and international humanitarian standards.
Prepare regular updates and reports on program progress, challenges, and financial expenditures.
Implement and uphold risk management strategies throughout all programmes.
Data Confidentiality:
Understanding data confidentiality principles is compulsory.
Treat donor information gathered confidential and secure.
Safeguarding Policy:
The Humanitarian Action Manager is to support in ensuring that all tasks are in compliance with the Safeguarding Policy Implementation in the Organization.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Humanitarian Studies, Social Sciences, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in humanitarian program management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, standards, and practices (e.g., Sphere Standards, CHS).
Proven ability to manage complex projects in high-pressure environments.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Required Skills:
Understanding of the NGO/INGO sector is preferred.
Excellent understanding of children's rights and child protection issues.
Awareness and basic understanding of issues affecting orphans & vulnerable children, such as the causes of vulnerability (e.g. HIV & AIDS, gender discrimination, poverty, etc.), local and national responses, etc.
Excellent command of written and spoken English - other languages, an asset.
Strong analytical and reporting skills, including the ability to identify problems and possible solutions, and ability to clearly reflect these in a report.
Collaboration skills, being driven to work with others and able to build strong working relationships with community members and groups.
Good communication skills and People development skills, including facilitation, coaching and mentoring skills, to build the capacities of co-workers from partner organizations; as well as of children and their care-givers, and other community members.
Ability and willingness to travel as required within and between project/programme locations.
Fluent in at least one of the local languages spoken in the Programme's target communities.
Ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.
Strong use of MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Office 365.
