Job Summary
The primary duty of the Analyst, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is to independently analyze geospatial vector and raster data to find health, humanitarian, and disaster trends using various research methodologies.
Additionally, the Analyst, GIS creates, organizes, and optimizes geospatial layers in various formats (for web and for print); maintains and updates mapping products/applications.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities
This position works independently and collaboratively conducting research, gathering, analyzing, and compiling GIS data from a variety of sources and determining how the information can best be leveraged for GIS purposes.
S/he is expected to be proficient in working with ArcGIS or other GIS software, data mapping, and regularly perform data and spatial analyses and create GIS outputs.
Statics Maps / Data Collection:
Collects and converts data received from outside sources to make it available for mapping projects.
Develop spatial data layers using GIS technology.
Design, develop and publish high quality mapping projects.
Administration:
Research and locate data layers for International Medical Corps GIS data catalog.
Create and compile metadata for geospatial data following industry standards.
Perform quality control checks of products created using mapping applications.
Assist in maintaining Security for ArcGIS and other GIS software systems used at International Medical Corps.
Maintains documentation
Analysis / Research:
Research and stay current on the latest in GIS technology.
Analyze data using GIS spatial analysis tools.
Analyze high resolution satellite imagery.
Perform data analysis and computer programming for GIS applications.
Provide subject matter expertise on geospatial analysis.
Perform research for future enhancements of GIS system.
Maintains and continually upgrades knowledge of GIS functionality and best practices.
Other Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with International Medical Corps policies, rules, regulations.
Prepare ad hoc data and map products as requested by supervisor and senior management team.
Work with a positive attitude demonstrating teamwork.
Exhibit honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Typically, a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or university.
Master's Degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Geo Information Systems, Computer science or related field is preferred.
An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience with GIS software systems.
Basic skills and knowledge of cartographic principles.
Experience with geodatabases for the compilation and analysis of geographic data.
Experience with raster and vector geospatial data.
Experience working with MS SQL Server is preferred.
Python experience is preferred.
Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
