Job Overview:
The English Language Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging English language lessons to students. This role involves fostering students’ proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while promoting a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for language, literature, and effective communication in students.
Responsibilities
Lesson Planning and Delivery:
Develop and implement creative, structured lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
Use various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, ensuring all students understand and appreciate English language principles.
Integrate multimedia resources, literature, and interactive activities to enhance learning experiences and student engagement.
Curriculum Development:
Contribute to the development of a comprehensive English language curriculum that aligns with national and school standards.
Adapt lesson plans to accommodate changes in curriculum requirements and adjust to individual student needs.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects to evaluate student performance.
Track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and offer additional support to struggling students.
Participate in standardized testing preparation and assessment as needed.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
Implement effective behavior management techniques and enforce school policies to maintain discipline and order.
Student Support and Mentorship:
Identify individual student needs and provide additional support or enrichment activities as necessary.
Encourage students’ personal development and foster their confidence in language use.
Communication and Collaboration:
Maintain open and regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the school’s mission, participate in staff meetings, and engage in professional development.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and any other necessary documentation.
Prepare and submit periodic progress reports, grades, and other assessments as required by the school administration.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with best practices and advancements in teaching English language.
Participate in professional development sessions, workshops, and seminars.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, Linguistics, or a related field; a teaching certification or diploma is a plus.
Proven experience as an English Language Teacher or in a related teaching role.
Strong knowledge of English grammar, literature, composition, and communication skills.
Proficiency in technology and experience with educational tools and resources.
