We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Supervisor for our client in the Oil & Gas Sector, to lead a key role in Business contracts, agreements and Legal activities.
Working in collaboration with other team members, Legal Supervisor Spearheads the examination of Company contract’s terms and conditions, ensuring that any set rules are abided by and conform to industry standards.
The Legal Supervisor shall review all the Company’s contracts before signing, analyzing all clauses, stipulations, obligations and liabilities to ensure they suit the company goals.

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities
Legal:
Draft, review and negotiate contracts and amendments with Clients, Vendors, government bodies, Contractors and Subcontractors, within broad Company guidelines.
Draft, Reviewing, negotiating and finalizing business and commercial contracts, such as: nondisclosure agreements, service level agreements, memorandum of agreements, framework agreements, general service agreements, operations and maintenance contracts, construction contracts, amendments, statements of work, and contract terminations but to mention a few.
Conducting research and analysis on specific contract provisions, contract terms and language, and applicable laws and regulations to evaluate contract content and identify any need for alternative language.
Researching relevant policies, laws and regulations to inform contractual development or interpretation and utilizing legal research tools and other sources to aid in interpretation or clarification of contracts.
Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on potential impacts on operations.
Identifying issues and communicating with management regarding any barriers or challenges to contract preparation, reviews or negotiation.
Assessing and evaluating Company risks and liabilities when negotiating contracts and informing andadvising appropriate staff and leadership of any associated risks and with business operations and provide strategic advice to mitigate those risks.
Independently managing the contracting workflow to ensure that assigned contracts meet legal and regulatory compliance requirements and applicable deadlines.
Ensuring complete and accurate contract information and documents are received from the contract owner to ensure compliant document preparation.
Conducting necessary research and analysis to ensure that contracts are prepared correctly, applicable attachments are included, and all terms and conditions meet legal regulations and requirements and Company policies and guidelines.
Coordinate with external legal counsel and manage relationships with legal advisors.
Manage and resolve legal disputes, including negotiations, mediations, and litigations as necessary.
Preparing accurate and complete contracts or amendments.
Evaluating alternative solutions and preparing recommendations for internal stakeholders and relevant leadership; and
Develop and implement contract management processes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
Utilizing the electronic contract management system to ensure data and documentation for contracts are recorded
Procurement:
This shall cover all procurement related activities that requires importation of goods and services from a foreign supplier as it relates to the assigned portfolio.
Interfacing with the Client and Suppliers and efficiently managing questions, clarifications andcomplaints in relations to procurement Contracts. etc.
Manage all legal changes/variations emanating from the Procurement Process.
Ensures Suppliers provides all stipulated Legal documents as per Purchase Order/Contract.
Reviewing Procurement Contracts to ensure all incoterms are favorable to COMPANY.
Maintain day to day communication and effective reporting with internal and external stakeholders.
Adhering to Procurement Policies and procedures in delivery of task.

Monitor and mitigate any customer or company safety concern.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Bachelor’s Degree (LLB) or higher in Law
Graduate of the Nigerian Law School; member of the Nigerian Bar Association
Membership in Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
Governance Institute will be an added advantage
Membership of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria and ICSA:
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar position.
Advanced proficiency in Legal tools and ERP software.
Advanced proficiency in applicable Microsoft Office Tools.
Intuitive, detail-oriented; flexible and creative.
Very good Knowledge of International Commercial Terms (Incoterms).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and discretion; and as a member of a team.
Ability to develop and conduct presentations and training sessions related to Legal policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders and individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Ability to effectively and clearly document and summarize complex issues.
Ability to recognize and safeguard sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to understand, interpret and apply contract language, complex laws, legislative and regulatory directives, policies, standards, and guidelines.
Ability to prepare, proofread and edit contracts.
Ability to independently negotiate contract provisions within the scope of assigned authority.
Working knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office applications and legal research database programs.
Working knowledge of the principles and practices; methods, tools and techniques of contract negotiation, contract development, review, implementation and management.
Strong Knowledge of Oil and Gas Laws.
Strong background in Oil and Gas industry and good liaison with the relevant Government Agencies (NUIMS, NIPEX, PENCOM, FIRS, NUPRC, NCDMB etc).
Salary
N700,000 - N800,000 Monthly plus other benefits.
