Job Title: Commercial / Business Development Manager
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager for our client in the Oil & Gas Sector, to lead their Commercial Team and drive the implementation of the company’s commercial plans for excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, the ability to manage contracts and bids, and a passion for maximizing the value of our commercial operations.
The Commercial/Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth through strategic commercial development, client acquisition, and relationship management within the Upstream Oil and Gas Sector.
This role focuses on identifying new market opportunities, developing client relationships, managing the bid and tender process, negotiating service contracts, and ensuring profitability in alignment with company goals.
Working closely with operations, sales, and finance teams, the Commercial/Business Development Manager will ensure that offerings meet client needs while maximizing revenue and market share.
Job Responsibilities
Market Analysis and Strategy Development:
Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, industry trends, and competitive positioning.
Develop and implement strategies to drive growth in targeted markets and enhance the company’s market share.
Collaborate with senior leadership to define goals and objectives for business expansion and service diversification.
Proposal Development, Cost and Pricing Strategy Coordination:
Manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including pre-qualification, bidding, and proposal submission.
Review and analyze client RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs to fully understand requirements, deliverables, and evaluation criteria.
Develop comprehensive and compelling proposal documents, ensuring alignment with client needs and company capabilities.
Collaborate with finance and project management teams to develop accurate cost estimates and pricing strategies.
Perform financial analysis to ensure competitive pricing that aligns with company profitability targets.
Assess risks and contingencies, preparing competitive pricing models that offer value to clients while maintaining margins
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:
Identify and develop relationships with potential clients in the Upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and addressing any concerns.
Foster long-term partnerships and maintain a strong network in the industry.
External Procurement:
Cover all procurement related activities that requires importation of goods and services from a foreign supplier as it relates to the assigned portfolio.Sourcing for suitable suppliers as per the Client approved manufacturers list (AML) or as otherwise approved.
Coordinating the bid process from receipt of RFQ’s from Client, up until issuance of purchase orders to Suppliers.Interfacing with the Client and Suppliers and efficiently managing questions, clarifications and complaints etc.
Adequately inform the client of any problems (i.e lead time slippage) in relations to the procurement effort.Manage all changes/variations emanating from the portfolio.
Ensures Supplier provides all stipulated documents as per Purchase Order (MTCs, Custom documents, drawings, certificates etc).
Expediting orders to ensure it is delivered on or before lead time.
Discuss Manufacturing schedules, Sub order status, raise technical queries (TQ’s), transmit MTC’s as applicable.
Manages the Supplier evaluation process, this will entail scrutinizing the supplier service delivery as per P.O and categorization of vendors due to performance.
Maintain day to day communication and effective reporting with internal and external stakeholders.
Adhering to Procurement Policies and procedures in delivery of task.
Contract Negotiation and Management:
Lead the negotiation and execution of service contracts, pricing agreements, and proposals.
Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure contracts are aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Manage contract renewals and amendments to optimize profitability and risk mitigation.
Revenue Growth and Financial Management:
Drive revenue growth by identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities across product offerings.
Prepare financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support business development initiatives.
Monitor and report on sales performance, ensuring alignment with targets and managing the Commercial impact of business decisions.
Project Coordination and Client Solutions:
Collaborate with operational and technical teams to ensure services meet client specifications and delivery timelines.
Provide strategic input to support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Develop tailored solutions for clients, addressing unique requirements and maximizing service quality.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Evaluate and manage risks associated with client contracts, market conditions, and regulatory environments.Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect company assets and reputation.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Manage stakeholders’ relationship associated with client, external government bodies (NUIMS, NUPRC, NMDPRA, NCDMB but to mention a few.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Finance, Law or related field; an MBA or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience: o 8+ years of experience in Oil and Gas services or a related sector, with a focus on business development, Proposals management, commercial management, or sales.
Deep knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry.
Involvement in EPCI Projects and Offshore work experience is an advantage
Proven evidence of Contracts won within the Oil and Gas Industry.
Demonstrated success in contract negotiation, client management, and revenue generation within the oilfield services industry.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and revenue forecasting.

Salary
1,500,000 Monthly plus other benefits (Sales Incentives).
