Our Mission is to empower African women and girls to become transformative leaders through STEM Education Leadership, and Entrepreneurship training while making a significant impact on the world. Job Description
The Grant Writer and Reviewer reports directly to the Partnerships & Fundraising Manager and will support in writing proposals for business funding, support in finding funding opportunities for the organization and writing polished proposals to earn grant money in driving the organization's consistent achievement of strategic objectives, and foundation's operations.
Key Responsibilities
Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.
Research potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and programs.
Write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals and reports.
Collaborate with program staff to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals and reports.
Customize proposals and reports to meet the requirements and preferences of different funders.
Manage the grant application process, including deadlines, submissions, and follow-ups.
Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
Track and report on the status of grant applications and awards.
Assist with other fundraising activities and initiatives as needed.
Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, with international exposure a huge plus.
Degree in business, non-profit management, or related fields.
Experience:
A minimum of three years experience in grant writing
Expertise & Skills:
Excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to create and implement new systems to keep WAAW running smoothly, while also accounting for different work styles and remote locations of staff.
Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated capacity to think strategically with experience in complex problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work remotely, with little supervision, and able to meet deadlines comfortably.
Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to take on a wide range of tasks.
Ability to handle confidential matters.
Knowledge and interest in women’s STEM education and commitment to the mission, and vision of WAAW Foundation.
Ability to work with local, regional, and international partners.
Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.
