Summary and Objective
WAAW Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Program Manager to lead and manage the development and implementation of our STEM education programs.
This individual will be responsible for the overall technical quality of WAAW’s programs. He/she will be responsible for the technical design of WAAW’s programs and quality, and manage the overall design of training curricula, training delivery methods, and training methods.
He/she will develop a MEL strategy and systems to support all of WAAW’s programs and lead the design of work plans, monitor delivery, and collate lessons learned.
The Senior Program Manager will ensure progress reports are delivered on time to client/donor specifications and will support the management of WAAW’s relationships with key stakeholders. He/she will drive the foundation's mission by overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of our programs.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Strategy:
Develop and refine program strategies in alignment with the foundation's mission and goals.
Collaborate with the leadership team to establish program priorities and long-term objectives.
Lead the design and development of new programs to address the evolving needs of women in STEM.
Ensure the integration of program strategies and activities with the overall WAAW strategy, results framework, and MEL processes.
Explore and implement strategies to scale programs and multiply impact.
Program Management:
Oversee the end-to-end implementation of STEM education programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Develop and manage program timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Monitor program performance and evaluate outcomes to measure impact and success.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of program activities and results.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with partners, donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Collaborate with external organizations, educational institutions, and industry partners to amplify the impact of collaborative initiatives.
Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to extend the reach and effectiveness of programs.
Represent WAAW Foundation at conferences, events, and meetings to promote the organization's mission.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Drive the collection, analysis, and interpretation of program data.
Implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program impact.
Analyze data and feedback to make data-driven decisions and improvements to program strategies.
Research best practices, implement data collection training for our fellows, and rewrite the data we collect.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Utilize advanced data analysis tools and statistical methods to extract meaningful insights from the data, uncovering trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Conduct statistical analysis and create data visualizations to communicate findings to the team and stakeholders.
Monitor data quality and integrity and implement strategies to address any discrepancies or anomalies.
Establish and maintain data quality standards and best practices for the organization.
Budget Management and Fundraising:
Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient use of resources.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support for program initiatives.
Cultivate relationships with donors, write grant proposals, and explore diverse fundraising avenues for program sustainability.
Curriculum Development:
Lead the development and enhancement of STEM education curricula.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, educators, and industry professionals to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
Ensure alignment of curricula with program goals and educational standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate a team of program managers, coordinators, and support staff.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Support the Business Development manager in the performance management of program staff, through providing feedback on their work quality.
Requirements and Skills
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline + 5 years of program project management experience, including planning, budgeting, delivery, measurement, and evaluation of programs. Master's degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years experience in education programming in Africa.
Expert knowledge of M&E processes and procedures.
Proven experience in data analysis, ideally in a nonprofit or education-focused organization.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Experience working on international donor-funded programs.
Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across, and down.
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and accountability.
Technically competent with various software programs and apps.
Experience with grant writing, budgeting, proposals, or fundraising.
Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Must be able to work virtually, hold self-accountable, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work with local, regional, and international partners.
Availability to work in various time zones and travel as needed.
Must have excellent Internet connection, working laptop, and ability to work remotely.
