Emel Hospital Limited is a multi-specialists’ hospital, situated at 21 Road, Z Close in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Lagos, Nigeria. Emel Hospital is a purpose-built 44 bed hospital situated on a piece of land specially approved for its purpose by the Federal Housing Authority. Emel Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He is the board chairman and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal is a non-executive director.
The Housekeeping/Facility Officer is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of all hospital facilities.
This role includes routine inspections, coordinating repairs, working closely with Maintenance officer and Facility Manager, and ensuring that hospital standards for sanitation and safety are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance and Inspections:
Conduct daily inspections of the hospital to identify and report maintenance needs, and to ensure the comfort of the patients.
Coordinate with Facility manager and maintenance officer to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
Housekeeping Supervision and Cleanliness:
Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation processes to ensure patient rooms, common areas, and workspaces meet hygiene standards.
Manage housekeeping staff schedules, training, and performance to ensure effective coverage and adherence to hospital cleanliness protocols.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring adequate stock and timely reordering.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce hospital safety regulations and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
Coordinate with the hospital's Prevention Control Officer (Matron Essien) to address any identified risks and ensure prompt resolution.
Conduct routine checks for pest control, working with Facility Manager and liaising together with pest control vendors as required for periodic fumigation and de-ratting.
Waste Management and Environmental Standards:
Supervise waste disposal practices to ensure all medical and general waste is handled in accordance with environmental and hospital policies.
Monitor dustbin placement, cleanliness, and emptying to maintain an orderly hospital environment.
Implement power conservation strategies within housekeeping and laundry operations, minimizing waste without impacting service quality.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on maintenance and housekeeping activities, including completed repairs, inspections, and identified areas for improvement.
Keep detailed records of all maintenance requests, repairs, and housekeeping incidents for tracking and compliance.
Collaboration and Communication:
Communicate effectively with hospital departments to ensure prompt response to maintenance or cleanliness requests.
Work closely with the security team to monitor facility access and ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Training and Development:
Conduct training sessions along with the Facility Manager on new equipment, cleaning protocols, and safety standards.
Promote a culture of cleanliness, safety, and attention to detail within the housekeeping and facilities team.
Salary
N150,000 - N250,000 per month.
