Job Description
Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and compassion in all interactions with patients and colleagues adhering to ethical and professional standards of practice.
Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, explaining the procedure, providing instructions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Operate the Portable Digital X-ray (PDX) equipment for chest X-rays in community settings to detect potential cases of TB.
Takes quality diagnostic radiographs of clients according to established procedures for patient care and safety. (using the ALARA principle)
Review captured images to ensure quality, clarity, and diagnostic value, retaking images if necessary to achieve optimal results.
Accurately document and complete radiological procedures, including record of all rejected radiographs /images and generate reports for use by clinical teams to guide diagnosis and treatment, in line with project requirements
Store all radiographs in an easily retrievable manner.
Regularly inspect, calibrate, and maintain the mobile X-ray unit to ensure it functions optimally in all environments, including troubleshooting any issues that arise.
Serves as the Radiation safety officer, to ensure that all radiation safety measures are in place, protecting both patients and staff from unnecessary exposure during X-ray procedures, including keeping records of the dosimetry readings.
Operate within the confines of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)
Participate in facility and community engagement and mobilization for screening PLHIV.
Collaborate with the other members of the healthcare team to ensure that individuals with presumptive TB identified through X-ray screening are promptly linked to diagnostic services and care, including sputum collection and transportation to GeneXpert sites.
Participate in routine quality control checks to ensure high standards of radiographic imaging and diagnostic accuracy.
Ensure all X-ray procedures and related documentation meet the standards of the National TB program.
Performs other duties as assigned by her/his supervisors
Minimum Recruitment Standard
Minimum of B.Sc / HND in Medical radiology or an X-ray technologist.
A current X-Ray Technology certificate or license to practice from Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) with years of relevant professional experience, with an emphasis on Chest radiology and screening.
Proven experience in coaching, conducting training, and preparing guidelines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and skill in data management and analysis, report writing and presentation.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multitask
Ability to respond to new challenges.
Time Management – Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and complete projects in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.
