In Nigeria, GIZ's portfolio includes among others, a programme to support the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in its regional integration goals. The programme aims to strengthen sector-specific capacities in the areas of Peace and Security, Customs and Trade as weir as Strategic Management and Organizational Development in the ECOWAS Commission.

Job Title: Junior Technical Advisor
Location: Abuja

Responsibilities
The Junior Technical Advisor is responsible for:
Providing support to the Head of Component and technical advisors with various technical tasks.
Coordinating project activities for the FMU component.
Carrying out specific research tasks required for the planning and implementation of the FMU.
Undertaking tasks related to knowledge management for the FMU.
Coordination and Monitoring:
The Junior Technical Advisor supports the FMU component with the setup and follow-up of activities, including the preparation and implementation of knowledge-sharing events and capacity development for ECOWAS.
The Advisor supports project monitoring and updates information on project progress, regularly documenting and reporting on the status of results.
Assists with planning, coordinating, and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars, and other project activities, focusing on technical aspects.
Assists short-term experts/consultants assigned to projects in completing their tasks.
Knowledge Management:
The Junior Technical Advisor assists in drafting reports and conducting research as required.
Supports event planning.
Assists in communicating, updating, and collecting information on the project and related topics (stabilization, social cohesion, food security, etc.).
Organizes and updates project documentation and filing systems (DMS and SharePoint).
General Obligations:
The Junior Technical Advisor is familiar with GIZ planning, implementation, and reporting procedures.
Familiarity with other program components and GIZ-assisted measures, concepts, and implementation status, along with knowledge of the corresponding experts and staff.
Represents the interests of the GIZ-assisted measure and always acts on its behalf.
Carries out important tasks for the program, even if not explicitly cited in the job description.
Other Duties/Additional Tasks:
The Junior Technical Advisor assists other experts with logistics and support as necessary.
Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Economics, Business Administration, or a similar area.
Not more than 3 years of professional experience in a comparable position.
Other Knowledge and Additional Competences:
Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, IT systems) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office 365).
Experience in project management and in an area related to the program’s requirements is desirable.
Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks performed; corresponding measures are agreed upon with management.
Excellent communication and diplomatic skills.
Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); French and/or Portuguese would be an advantage.
GIZ experience is a significant advantage.
