We are seeking a creative and passionate Interior Decoration Tutor to educate and inspire adolescent and young children in the art of interior design.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interior design, excellent communication skills, and a knack for teaching children in an engaging and interactive manner.
Responsible for creating a positive and nurturing learning environment where students feel motivated, inspired, and empowered to explore their creativity and express themselves through design.
Responsibilities
Develop Curriculum Plan and Deliver Lessons:
Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the age group of adolescent and young children, focusing on fundamental principles of interior design, color theory, space planning, furniture arrangement, and decor selection.
Plan and organize lessons that are interactive, hands-on, and age-appropriate, incorporating various teaching methods such as visual aids, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
Deliver engaging and informative instruction sessions, fostering creativity and critical thinking among students while maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Demonstrate various techniques and skills related to interior decoration, such as sketching, drafting, model-making, and material selection, to enhance students' understanding and proficiency.
Be actively engaged in knowledge exchange and impact activities and be aware of and able to exploit external funding opportunities.
Foster collaboration and teamwork among students through group projects and activities, promoting communication, problem-solving, and mutual respect.
Stay abreast of current trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of interior design, incorporating relevant advancements into the curriculum to keep it fresh and relevant.
Assess Progress on Performance and Provide Feedback:
Offer constructive feedback and guidance to students on their projects, encouraging experimentation and exploration while ensuring adherence to design principles and safety guidelines.
Organize and oversee coordinate with instructors and facilitators to ensure the effective delivery of educational content.
Monitor the progress and performance of participants, providing support and guidance as needed.
Provide a challenging and supportive learning experience for all students on Interior programs.
Assess the progress and performance of students through quizzes, projects, presentations, and other assessment methods, providing regular updates to parents or guardians on their child's development.
Develop and apply appropriate teaching techniques and material that create interest, understanding, and enthusiasm amongst students.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to undergo background checks and any necessary certifications related to working with children.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate class schedules and events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Interior Design, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field.
Proven experience in interior design, with a strong portfolio showcasing creative and innovative design projects.
Previous experience teaching or tutoring children in a classroom or workshop setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with children of varying ages and backgrounds.
Proficiency in relevant software applications such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, REVIT, Photoshop, MS word & Powerpoint etc.
Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in nurturing the artistic talents and creativity of young learners.
Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of the principles of interior design and decoration.
Expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces.
Ability to identify and analyze the clients' needs and preferences.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and clients.
Time management skills to ensure that all topics relevant to the course are covered in the allocated time.
Creative and innovative thinking skills to generate new ideas and concepts.
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry trends and materials.
Ability to provide constructive feedback to students to improve their work.
Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for visual representation.
Entrepreneurial skills to identify and capitalize on business opportunities in the interior design industry.
