Job Summary
The Management Accountant will play a critical role in providing financial insights and analysis to drive effective decision-making within the aluminum and copper recycling plant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal financial performance.
This role requires an individual with a strong background in manufacturing finance, particularly in the metals or recycling industry.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, analyze, and report monthly management accounts and financial statements, including variance analysis against budget and forecasts.
Develop and maintain comprehensive budgeting and forecasting processes to support the plant's financial planning.
Conduct detailed cost analysis of production processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Monitor and report on key financial metrics, including cost per ton, scrap rates, and productivity KPIs to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Assist in the development of pricing models and strategies for aluminum and copper products, ensuring profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
Partner with operations and production teams to analyze plant performance and recommend improvements for cost control and profitability.
Prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor working capital requirements, and manage inventory valuation and control.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and company policies.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of ledgers, journals, and other accounting records.
Provide financial insights to support decision-making on capital investments and new projects, including cost-benefit analysis.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is required.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in management accounting, with a strong background in the manufacturing or metals industry.
Proven expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting within a production environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [Insert Relevant Software/ERP used at the plant] is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Knowledge of IFRS or GAAP and relevant regulatory frameworks in the recycling or manufacturing sector is an advantage.
