Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI) is a National Non-governmental organization, which is committed and active in community humanitarian and developmental projects with its presence in Borno, Adamawa, Benue, Yobe and Jigawa States. The primary focus of RRI is on improving and alleviating the problems of the less privileged, deprived, vulnerable group and people affected by armed conflicts and other Natural/Man made disasters in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Areas of focus include; food security and livelihood, Nutrition, Protection, Education, Water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Metal health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS) achieved through the implementation of projects targeted at the community level especially on the most vulnerable members of the community.
In line with its focus, RRI will be implementing WASH and Multipurpose Cash Assistance in Jigawa States In partnership with IOM-RRF Project. This is aimed at preventing already vulnerable House Holds from falling into starvation, malnutrition and diseases.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Assistant (Emergency WASH and MPCA Project)
Under the supervision of the WASH Officer, the Hygiene Promotion Assistant will be responsible for ensuring high quality and timely delivery of all the WASH/ MPCA -related Hygiene Promotion.
Strategic objective of improving WASH/ MPCA to beneficiaries’ community through improving access to safe water and sanitation, and impacting good behavior change in hygiene practices in project area.
He/she will ensure the complementarity of WASH hardware and software components to address existing WASH/ MPCA needs in the targeted communities.
Key Areas of Accountabilities
Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities are implemented based on theWASHquality standards established byRRI andthrough WASH Quality Benchmarks and checklist.
Daily monitoring and recording of field activities related to WASH-Hygiene promotion and track the project planned activity progress daily.
Daily, Weekly (or each time when necessary) brief in written and or oral reports to line manager.
Participate actively in terms of collecting required data to donors’ reports and proposals.
Assist the MEAL team in monitoring and evaluation and ensure project lessons are documented for future note.
Close cooperation with trained groups — regular meetings and sessions, monitoring of WASH activities after the training, documenting activities conducted by trained groups.
Communicate techniques on environmental, food, water hygiene in the target households/ communities. Ensure that the various aspects of the hygiene activities are integrated with Gender, Protection and Health.
Cooperation with local authorities and local communities — participation in meetings, reporting from meetings to the Hygiene and Sanitation Officer.
Facilitating appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities — carrying out community mobilization activities, liaising with crucial stakeholders.
Mobilize and conduct community hygiene and sanitation campaigns sessions, focus group discussion, and meeting with key informants
Arranging and sorting WASH IEC materials and ensure proper usage — liaising with Logistics, informing Hygiene Promotion Officer about possible shortages.
Providing support/carrying out WASH distributions — organizing distribution according to HygienePromotion Officer's guidance &providing stock count for WASH,informing community about the rules during distribution as well as proper usage of items; handing over items to community; keeping record of recipients.
Attendingfield basedWASH Cluster meetings upon request from WASH Officer
As required, support WASH in emergencies (flood response, public health outbreak) planning and response interventions.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Relief Rescue Initiative and amongst beneficiaries served by Relief Rescue Initiative.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of Relief Rescue Initiative and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Qualifications
Diploma in Public Health, Community Health or Sociology.
1 - 2 years of experience in Hygiene Promotion Activities, supervising the implementation of WASH facilities-Sanitation facilities, Health facilities Waste Management Zones
Strong communication skills and ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
Experience in working with local communities, children, and people with special needs.
Experience in CLTS, PHAST, IEC, SBCC and CHAST methodology.
Experience in integration of WASH and other sectors (such as Health, Nutrition, Child Protection, Food Security and Livelihoods and effective community engagement approaches.
Understands the mainstreaming of gender, disability inclusion and accountability to affected populations mechanisms in WASH programming.
Have good computer skills (Microsoft Office) internet, email,
The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances.
Commitment to the aims and principles of Relief Rescue Initiative in particular a good understanding of the RRI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
Fluent level - written and spoken English and Hausa Language is advantage.
