TAAS College, Ibadan is a Co-educational institution established in the Islamic tradition at KM 15, Abeokuta Road, Amunigun Village, Bode Igbo, Ibadan. The Nursery and primary school was upgraded to the secondary school by the governing council as a result of a remarkable acceptance by the Muslim Community and within a short period of existence. Job Title: English & Literature-In-English Teacher
We are seeking a passionate and experienced English/Literature-in-English Teacher to join our teaching staff.
The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language, a deep understanding of literature, and the ability to inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, preparing students for internal and external examinations, and fostering a love for literature.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature-in-English to secondary school students (SSS1 to SSS3).
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that meet the school’s curriculum and WAEC/NECO standards.
Evaluate and assess students' progress through assignments, tests, and examinations.
Encourage students' participation in reading and analyzing various literary genres, including prose, poetry, and drama.
Prepare students for internal and external examinations (WAEC/NECO) in both English and Literature-in-English.
Foster a positive learning environment where students feel motivated to improve their English language and literary analysis skills.
Provide one-on-one support for students where necessary to improve their language proficiency.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver interdisciplinary projects and participate in school events and activities.
Maintain accurate records of students' performance, attendance, and disciplinary actions.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them build a foundation for higher education.
Requirements
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
Experience: 3-7 years of teaching experience in a secondary school setting, specifically in English and Literature-in-English.
Certification: Teaching qualifications (TRCN registration or other relevant certifications) are an advantage.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Deep understanding of the English language, literature, and curriculum development.
Ability to use a variety of teaching methods and digital tools to enhance learning.
Excellent organizational and classroom management skills.
Experience preparing students for WAEC and NECO examinations is essential.
Location:
Must be residing close to Apata, Ibadan, or willing to relocate to Ibadan.
Candidates must be able to easily commute to the school or be willing to find accommodation near the school in Apata.
