Background
We are looking for a Group Head of Sales & Business Development - a self-driven, highly ambitious future business leader who will lead and deliver on our customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives.
The Group Head Sales ensures that the entire sales function, comprising of Sales Consultants and Sales managers as well as the Sales Administration and Operations team all work effectively and harmoniously to ensure the sales force productivity is at exceptionally high levels.
Ultimately, this role is responsible for hitting annual targets, building relationships, analysing the competitive landscape, and understanding customer trends; enabling the business to keep growing profitably and solidify its position as an industry leader.
He/she will be responsible for developing growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans and will manage all sales efforts across the company.
This will include seeking out opportunities and building connections that opens doors and will further expand the sales team’s reach and selling capabilities.
He/she also assists the sales force in the identification and resolution of bottlenecks, impediments and obstacles which may hinder their ability to recognize and optimize opportunities.
Responsibilities
Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets
Create and communicate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals and ensure C-level executives know the progress towards those goals
Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base through a thorough understanding of category-specific landscapes and trends
Effectively communicate the value proposition through winning proposals, bids, and presentations
Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships
Develop and implement a sales training and orientation program to educate new hires as the company grows
Keep track of market and Macro forces that shift prospects budgets, spending decisions and strategic direction of sales efforts.
Assess the competitive landscape and institute changes to the sales program in response to competitor changes and industry standards
Requirements
Proven 8 – 10 years experience as a sales executive, sales manager or sales and marketing director, meeting, or exceeding targets
BA/B.SC degree or equivalent
Demonstrable experience as Group Head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close and at each stage to position products against competitors
Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
Excellent listening, negotiation and influencing skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills – Bid preparation, Proposals, Presentations
Experienced and adept in the use of IT systems, Apps and other digital tools to record, monitor, analyse and report on Sales Performance.
Proven ability to motivate, inspire and train Sales managers and officers.
