Job Title: Finance Controller
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Responsibilties
Preparation of management accounts, periodic reports and year-end financial statements and budget.
Oversee and supervise accounts receivables, invoicing and credit control functions.
Maintain good working relationships with tax authorities and auditors and tax consultancy for efficient business operations
Identification of adequate internal controls, procedures, mechanisms and their implementation for optimum business operations.
Routinely follow up account receivables and debtors by issuing monthly State of Accounts
Take part in preparing and updating departmental standard operating procedures and ensure their implementation in finance and control operations of the company
Oversee the preparation of annual budget, monitor and control its implementation and prepare periodic variance reports for management review.
Provide commercial support to other departments and functions – Procurement, Operations, BD, Maintenance, Projects, etc. as may be required
Work with HR department to manage internal and external staff payroll administration.
Support business development and management in new business initiatives, specifically assisting management in identifying new funding opportunities and determining cost effectiveness of prospective opportunities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as statutory audit, remittance of taxes and deductions, annual filings and returns as wells as other regulatory requirements.
Prepare accurate and relevant project reports and investment appraisal for potential projects.
Familiarity with Petroleum Industry Act, Petroleum Profit Tax, and other industry-specific regulations.
Understanding of joint venture accounting and production sharing contracts.
Experience with vessel accounting and charter party agreements.
Investigation and analysis of project variances for management.
Build and maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions for the purpose of sourcing funds and negotiation of terms.
Must be a member of any the following professional bodies - ICAN, ANAN or ACCA or equivalent.
Key Attributes & Skills
Proficiency in use of QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a must.
Strong numerical skills and an intermediate to advanced user of MS Excel
Strong communication skills and the ability to ask relevant questions and provide thorough explanations
Critical thinking, coordination, and analytical skills
Ability to work in high pressure, fast-paced project environment
Result oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines
Team player with the ability to lead as well as work with other departments in the organisation when your input is required
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary / multinational environment
Proactive and able to work independently, applying a structured and systematic approach.
