We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Upholsterer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Carry outday-to-day upholstery activities to ensure high-quality work and adherence to production schedules.
• Ensure that all upholstered products meet Al-Treuhand Better Design’s quality standards. Inspect work throughout the process and make adjustments as necessary.
• Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet deadlines. Monitor progress and make adjustments to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Manage inventory of upholstery materials, tools, and supplies. Ensure that materials are used efficiently and reorder as necessary.
• Using power and hand tools, apply and install batting, foam, poly-filler and cut fabric to wooden framework in the assembly of hand-crafted furniture.
• Identify opportunities to improve production processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency. Implement best practices in upholstery techniques and processes.
• Work closely with other departments, including design, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of the upholstery process within the overall production workflow.
• Attach finishes, including buttons, trim, tassels and other decorative accessories, to complete orders according to specifications
• Measure and cut fabric or leather pieces with the aid of patterns or stencils and industrial cutting tools to precise sizes and dimensions.
• Read work orders and maintain database of production status for communication with outside clients as well as in-house managers
• Inspect wooden frame work for defects and make repairs as needed prior to upholstery application and other finish work.
• Operate portable hand-sewing equipment, nail guns, hobnail and tack hammers, hot-knife cutters and other industrial equipment.
• Send monthlyreports on production status, quality controlto management.
• Any other duty as assigned by Management.

Requirements

• A minimum of SSCE or 2 years of experience in training in a vocational school or apprenticeship as an upholsterer. Certification or training in upholstery or related fields is an added advantage.
• Experience in a furniture manufacturing environmentis an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and tools. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
• Team Player: Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with other departments.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials as needed.
• Creativity and communication skills are a must.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

Preffered Candidate:

• In-depth knowledge of modern upholstery techniques.
• Must be able to demonstrable understanding of templates and patterns.
• Must be able to determine fabric inventory and place orders with textile partner; provide status updates about fabric availability to clients and managers.
• Discuss complications or assembly line slow-downs with supervisors and brainstorm solutions for increased productivity.
• Must have working familiarity with tools, such as tack pullers, chisels, mallets and stretchers.
• Must have the ability to estimate costs of materials, products and services.
• Must be creative and able to create master furniture pieces that meets the company standard.
• Ability to visualize design ideas.
• Ability to translate the ideas of the client into high-quality furnishings.

Salary
N70,000 - N150,000 / month.
