Job Description

• We are seeking a proactive and diligent Legal Intern to join our legal team. The intern will provide support to the legal department by conducting research, preparing legal documents, and assisting in day-to-day tasks.
• This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various areas of law and to understand the workings of a legal department.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research on various topics such as case laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
• Assist in drafting legal documents, contracts, memos, briefs, and other legal correspondence.
• Help organize and maintain client files, legal documents, and case records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Assist with preparing for hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations by organizing exhibits, reviewing case notes, and summarizing information.
• Assist in communicating with clients, obtaining relevant information, and responding to legal queries.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, answering phones, managing calendars, and scheduling meetings.
• Provide analytical support by reviewing legal issues and preparing summaries or reports for review by senior legal staff.
• Assist in ensuring that the organization complies with applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform any other tasks as directed by the legal team.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
• Legal Knowledge: Basic understanding of legal principles, terminology, and court procedures.
• Research Skills: Strong research skills with attention to detail.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical Skills:Ability to analyze complex legal issues and present clear summaries.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
• Confidentiality: Must maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Close Proximity to the office is an added advantage (preferred candidate must reside on the island)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship experience in a law firm or legal department is a plus.
• Strong interest in a specific area of law, such as corporate law, intellectual property, litigation, etc.

Salary / Benefits

• Salary: N80,000 - N100,000 / month.
