The University, as part of its efforts to fulfill a God-given mandate of promoting Nigeria's development through community training of world-standard students, has about 2,000 students. It has been approved by verification teams from the National Universities Commission, Pharmacy Council, and Nursing Council. Job Title: University Librarian

The Position
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and the Chief Library Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library.
The library houses a rich repository of publications, ordinance (P.O.) materials, and features a digitalization chamber where rare collections and manuscripts are processed for preservation and optimum accessibility.
It has an online Public Access Catalogue that is web-based, accessible anywhere and anytime as long as there is internet connectivity.
The University Librarian coordinates the activities of all university libraries and plays a critical role in implementing the Vision and Mission of the University.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a good honours degree (minimum of second class lower) in any related discipline from a university recognized by the Senate of the University, plus a professional qualification in librarianship.
Applicants should show evidence of considerable scholarship and a thorough understanding of the application of new technologies to library operations and services. Computer literacy and application of ICT in library services are essential requirements.
Applicants must provide sufficient evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed, and referred journals within and outside Nigeria.
Candidates should demonstrate competence in job planning/organization, high visionary team-building ability, and good interpersonal skills.
A minimum of 15 years of experience is required, of which 10 years must have been in a top leadership position in a recognized university, and applicants must have served as Principal Librarian for at least 5 years.
Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Post
The appointment shall be for a period of two (2) years and may, based on satisfactory performance, be renewable.
Fringe benefits include a pension scheme as may from time to time be approved by the Council, furnished accommodation, an official vehicle with a driver, and other benefits applicable to similar positions.

Each referee should be contacted by the applicant to forward, directly to the Registrar, a confidential report on the candidate's character, academic, and managerial abilities in a properly sealed envelope marked "Post of University Librarian: Referee's Report" at the top left-hand corner.
