Job Description

• We are seeking a skilled and motivated Power Plant Operator with comprehensive knowledge in both mechanical systems and gas plant operations to join our team in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
• The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience and will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of our power plant facilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the performance of mechanical systems and gas turbines to ensure optimal efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on all plant equipment, including gas compressors, turbines, boilers, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair any mechanical or gas-related issues promptly and effectively.
• Monitor control systems, interpret readings from gauges and meters, and ensure operational parameters are maintained within specified limits.
• Respond immediately to alarms and operational anomalies, taking corrective actions to maintain safe and stable operations.
• Maintain accurate records of plant operations, equipment performance, maintenance activities, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior operators, promoting operational best practices and safety awareness within the team.
• Work closely with engineering and safety teams to implement and uphold safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
• Participate in safety drills, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to foster a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• HND/B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a related field.
• 2 – 5 years of hands-on experience in power plant operations, with a focus on both mechanical and gas plant systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting methodologies, and gas turbine operations.
• Familiarity with power generation systems, safety regulations, environmental compliance, and industry standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
