Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Developer to drive our growth by developing sales strategies, creating winning sales pitches, and preparing compelling concept notes for grants.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar power solutions.
This role involves identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with potential clients and partners, and positioning Mone Solar as a leader in the market.
Key Responsibilities
Concept Note and Grant Application Development:
Develop clear, persuasive, and competitive concept notes for grant applications, focusing on solar energy solutions for development projects and rural electrification.
Collaborate with the project management and technical teams to gather necessary information to craft strong grant proposals.
Stay updated on available grants, funding opportunities, and relevant donor activities within the renewable energy sector.
Sales Strategy Development:
Identify potential business opportunities and markets for Mone Solar’s products and services.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to increase market penetration and grow revenue.
Research and analyze customer trends, competitors, and market demand to shape sales strategies.
Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment of strategies across departments.
Sales Pitch and Proposal Writing:
Create tailored sales pitches, presentations, and proposals to effectively communicate Mone Solar’s value proposition to prospective clients.
Lead the preparation of high-quality, professional business presentations and proposals for large corporate clients, government agencies, and NGOs.
Conduct client meetings and pitch presentations, addressing all client concerns and questions to move opportunities through the sales funnel.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, investors, and donors, ensuring continued collaboration and business development opportunities.
Act as a liaison between Mone Solar and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and partnership engagements.
Represent Mone Solar at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
Business Development Research and Analysis:
Perform market research to identify and develop new business leads and opportunities in the solar energy sector.
Conduct detailed analysis of competitors and market dynamics to identify opportunities for growth.
Gather feedback from customers and other stakeholders to continuously improve Mone Solar’s offerings.
Contract Negotiation and Closing Deals:
Lead negotiations with clients and partners, ensuring that agreements are favorable and aligned with Mone Solar’s business objectives.
Close sales and partnership deals that align with the company’s growth and profitability goals.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the technical, operations, and finance teams to ensure project deliverables are met and client expectations are exceeded.
Collaborate with the finance department on pricing models, financial projections, and business case justifications for proposals and pitches.
Reporting and Performance Monitoring:
Track and report on business development activities, including progress on leads, pipeline management, and closed deals.
Prepare regular reports for the management team, highlighting key business development successes, challenges, and opportunities.
Industry Knowledge and Continuous Learning:
Keep up-to-date with solar energy technologies, market developments, and industry best practices.
Explore and recommend innovative solutions and ideas to strengthen Mone Solar’s competitive position in the market.
Key Requirements
Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field. A background in renewable energy, engineering, or environmental studies is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of business development experience in the solar energy or renewable energy sector.
Sales Skills: Strong experience in sales and marketing, particularly in crafting and delivering persuasive pitches to a variety of clients.
Proposal Writing Skills: Proven experience in writing successful proposals for grants, RFPs, and other funding mechanisms.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and contract management abilities, with experience closing significant deals.
Market Knowledge: Solid understanding of the solar energy industry, including trends, challenges, and opportunities in both residential and commercial sectors.
Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, partners, and donors.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using CRM software, sales and marketing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems.
Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
