Job Title: Accountant

Job Purpose
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
The role also includes budgeting, tracking expenses, and managing property transactions, ensuring the financial health of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update the general ledger, including recording all financial transactions.
Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and receivables.
Process invoices, receipts, and payments promptly and accurately.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor performance against the budget.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management.
Ensure accurate financial reporting of real estate assets and liabilities.
Maintain records of property acquisitions, sales, leases, and valuations.
Track and report on construction project costs, budgeting, and expenses.
Liaise with project managers to ensure proper tracking of construction and development costs.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and file returns on time (VAT, PAYE, income tax).
Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities.
Prepare tax schedules and assist in tax audits.
Monitor operational costs and work with departments to control expenses.
Evaluate and implement cost-saving measures across real estate projects.
Assist in pricing strategies for property sales and rentals.
Track incoming payments from property sales, rentals, and other income streams.
Ensure timely payment of contractors, suppliers, and other external parties.
Manage payroll and employee-related payments.
Develop and implement internal financial controls and ensure adherence to financial policies.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records.
Conduct regular internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
Analyze financial data to provide insights into property profitability and cost trends.
Prepare financial models and forecasts to support business decision-making.
Conduct due diligence and financial analysis for potential property investments.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Familiarity with property management software is an advantage.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and tax regulations.
