This position will be responsible for ensuring all General Ledger related transactions are recorded in the Company’s books.
Specifically, this position will carry out daily accounting activities; ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner; producing financial and other key reports for management.
The Finance Associate will also provide proactive support in the execution of procurement activities.
Key Accountabilitie
Coordinate posting of transactions on SAP
Review weekly bank reconciliation reports
Prepares Monthly reconciliation statements of other key general ledger accounts
Manage Intercompany Accounting for the corporate centre
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring journal entries and reconciliations are accurate
Posting of monthly accruals and standard journals
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner
Monthly preparation and posting on SAP of the following monthly rental-related schedules: Rent received schedule from Tenants, Amortization schedule, Accrual schedule, Ground & House schedule, Group Rental schedule.
Monthly computation and posting of commercial service fees
Monthly preparation and posting of salary schedules
Monthly amortization of allowances paid to employees
Oversee procurement activities and responsible for purchase order creation for Corporate Centre
Quarterly allocation of Centre of Excellence (COE) costs to relevant Business Units
Preparation of correspondence (letters, memos, mandates, etc.) for the day-to-day running of the Department
Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and legal compliance
Collaboratively developing operating policies and procedures, improvement programs and management systems for the attainment of objectives of specific projects and the Company
Undertake procurement for office and Information Technology consumables
Ensures appropriate insurance cover for all eligible fixed assets
Manage the fixed asset accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of acquisitions, disposals, and transfers
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Carry out from time to time any other function as may be assigned by the Corporate Centre Vice President, Finance.
Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Requirements
First Degree in Accounting and other related disciplines is required.
Professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, and ACCA.
A minimum of four years of professional experience within a finance function from industry and or Big 4 professional service firm.
Good technical IFRS accounting knowledge and good SAP/ERP knowledge.
Practical knowledge of office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).
Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills.
Good financial accounting experience covering General Ledger.
Good people management and communication skills.
Ability to interact with other Business Units throughout the organization.
An understanding of socio-political and economic issues and their impact on the business.
