Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer plays an executive management role within the organization in leading, directing, and enhancing the company’s operations and shared services to ensure high-quality service delivery for internal and external customers.
Responsible for the implementation of policies set by the Board of Directors, as well as the achievement of annual goals and objectives of the company.
Responsible for developing a world-class operations support system for the company and ensuring the best working environment and processes.
Main Responsibilities
Develops the Company’s annual operating plan and ensures that there is an alignment thereof with the overall strategic direction of the company.
Maintains the right leadership profile across the company, contributing to the strategic direction of the business and leading business development in the company.
Builds a robust business plan to support the commercial viability of the company to meet the strategic objectives of the business as well as ensure value creation for all stakeholders and revenue streams for the company.
Builds relationships with and influences key stakeholders (including regulators, banks, investors, business owners, borrowers, insurance companies, governments, etc.) and engenders their belief in the integrity of the company’s value propositions.
Drives value-added operational performance, develops new strategies to generate change initiatives and promotes business growth and efficiency company-wide.
Uses extensive business knowledge, together with a breadth of understanding of the wider economic climate and benchmarks to influence business decisions.
Champions the development and effective use of Management Information Systems and Financial Analysis within the Company.
Strategically and operationally contributes to building company-wide new or enhanced process capabilities and integrates these into the standard operating model of the company; oversees transitions while ensuring that operating standards remain consistent with governance, risk, control, and compliance best practices.
Leads the company’s growing team, supports their personal development, hires/develops talent within the team, and encourages a compelling career proposition for the company’s workforce.
Inspires, motivates, challenges, trains, and develops heads of departments and other staff of the company.
Acts as a role model, visibly and consistently behaving in ways that reinforce the company’s culture.
Delivers clear and consistent communication on the Vision and Strategy of the company and ensures integration company-wide.
Manages cross-functional, cross-company, and cross-jurisdictional relationships.
Manages the development and delivery of financial information and analysis for the company, working together with finance & accounting teams.
Works closely with Risk Management, Finance & Investment, and the governance teams to undertake quality assurance activities to ensure that the integrity of financial data remains at the highest standards and that adequate financial and process controls are in place.
Supports the strong financial performance of the company.
Playing any role as may be delegated by the MD and the Board of Directors.
Educational Requirements & Skills
First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or any business-related courses.
A second degree in a relevant course is required including but not limited to disciplines such as management, business administration, and or operations management.
Membership in relevant professional bodies e.g. ACA, ACCA, etc. will be an added advantage.
10 years of hands-on experience with at least 5 in a business/profit & loss of leadership role in a relevant organization in the financial services or other relevant industry.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Chief Operating Officer.
Hands-on experience in regulatory reporting and business development knowledge.
Good experience in a financial company.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing analytically rigorous initiatives.
Able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
