Job Title: Consultant - Lagos Telehealth Project

Job Summary
We invite qualified candidates to apply for an opportunity to support the consortium-led implementation research to test equitable digital-first care in Lagos State.
This would be an independent consulting engagement. Ideal candidates will be based in Lagos State, Nigeria and have experience in designing and implementing qualitative & quantitative research methods and will play a critical role in executing data collection, analysis and reporting.
A master’s degree in public health, statistics, social sciences, epidemiology or similar field is required.
Description
The implementation Research to test equitable digital-first care in Lagos State is in the second phase where telehealth models are being deployed and adaptations will be made based on learnings from Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.
Typical support will include routine data collection, cleaning and analysis, drawing of key insights from findings in the project’s lifespan, and report writing.
The Independent Consultant will work closely with the Consortium over 6 months to support the implementation research to iteratively deploy telehealth models to the target population across the pre-identified wards in Lagos State.
The Consultant may also provide support to VillageReach’s global programs as needed.
Examples of potential assignments and deliverables:
Qualitative data collection and analysis (primary focus): Conduct in-depth interviews, field observation, and key informant interviews, and support the analysis of qualitative data to inform adaptations needed for subsequent deployment of telehealth models for equitable primary health care services in Lagos State.
Quantitative data collection and analysis (secondary focus): Administer surveys and other data collection instruments to users of deployed telehealth models on the implementation research project, analysis of data provided by the telehealth service providers, and other data generated on the project.
Research implementation: Ensure compliance with ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent, maintaining participant confidentiality, managing data storage and documentation, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Prepare detailed reports, summarizing research findings and recommendations.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as required on the implementation research project.
Requirements
Master’s degree or higher in public health, statistics, social sciences, epidemiology, or another relevant field, required.
Experience and strong interest in qualitative research, monitoring and evaluation work, including literature reviews, preparing research protocols, creating monitoring and evaluation frameworks, collecting data, analyzing qualitative data (required), analyzing quantitative data (preferred), and presenting results.
Understanding of health inequities with the ability to apply equity lens and anti-racism principles to all work, is required.
Experience and/or interest in health areas such as immunization, demand generation, community assessments, qualitative/quantitative data analysis, and program planning, preferred.
Experience with community engagement and working with racially, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, is preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Comply with VillageReach’s COVID-19 vaccination policy which requires full vaccination for in-person work or travel.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.
Skillful written and verbal communication abilities, and ability to synthesize and deliver information to diverse audiences in a clear and concise way.
Ability to collect, analyze, and present qualitative and quantitative research from interviews, surveys, and state databases, preferred. Experience conducting data analysis using PowerBI, R, Stata, and/or AtlasTI is a plus.
Comfortable taking on a role that will evolve/change based on emerging needs. Ability and desire to learn new skills and technical areas quickly while on the job.
Self-motivated; independent worker able to set and meet deadlines
Fluency in English is required
Fluency in other local languages such as Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, etc is a plus.
